Laugh at High Gas Prices With a 282-mpg VW | Autopia from Wired.com

Except this one is actually ready, and will be, produced. Also, looks about as safe as a bike.

This car is old.

It's been "coming to a theater near you" for over 8 years. It never does, because VW won't break new grounds like Honda will. They take part in the fuel glut just like everyone else did.

The process of turning the mat into a finished product is what makes it so high priced.

Carbon Kevlar is still costly, and most of what we see on the markets is still a 1001 "decorative" material. Aircraft and real CF apps are using a FAR superior material.

I also understand that the Israeli artifical spider web should be getting unveiled. Invented it about 14 years ago. Carbon Nanotube will hit the market at about the same time.

this is the stuff i made my leg brace out of

Carbon Fiber Fabric: TAP Plastics

i used the GA090

http://www.tapplastics.com/uploads/p...uct%20Data.pdf

4 layers laid out on top of each other, in this pattern: | / \ |

worked far better than the bulky plastic and foam POS they gave me to wear
very thin
very strong
very light
much cooler (temp wise)

also cool from the stand point of having a CF leg
"daaaaammmmnnnn Y0!!! how'd you trick out da leg y0?!?!?!"
