Awps, do you remember a "hey does this smell like choloform to you?" at 11 pm and then blacking out suddenly?

Nah, I do remember fading a little bit, then B and E asking if I was alright. I switched to water, then woke the fuck up.

Everybody else that said congrats and sweet, pretty much said what I was going to say. I thought it'd be redundant to say it again. :)

I can understand the reasoning behind the purchase especially considering the amazing price but the styling has always left me holding back the vomit. Those numbers could make anyone jealous though. Good find.

Congrats man, that's a great deal right there! Not a fan of the styling either but like everyone else said, you can't beat those numbers!

Enjoy the new ride :)

Very nice. :)

I've only sat in an Insight, but I noticed right away how light the seat and the door felt.

If aftermarket rear wheel covers were sold that made the back end look more normal, I'd definitely pick one up. Sure I'd lose some MPG, but I'd be willing.

And the Insight dash was ripped from the 1G CRX! :D Our was cooler though, the power curve of the engine was incorporated right into the tach:

i really dont understand the hangup everyone has with the rear wheel covers :shrug2:

i guess i just looked at the car from a function standpoint... and found its form to be pleasing based on its function :shrug2: i thought it looked cool

all someone would have to do is go buy a set of rear covers and modify them... anyone with half an ounce of creativity and ability would be able to do it
make some forms out of MDF or something
cut the wheel opening as desired leaving extra so the edge could be rolled
place it on the MDF form... hit it with a heat gun and roll the edge
trim everything as needed to finish the edge
paint them

done.

I was thinking of totally custom ones in fiberglass, but modifying the existing ones could work too.

I think there's an opening in the market for custom Insight wheel well covers. You could sell them like hotcakes at all the ricey bodykit stores. Plain jane ones, crazy ugly flared ones for 'aerodynamics' or 'downforce' at 400% markup, etc.

I doubt it; Insights don't look fast or cool enough. :p

Anyways, there's people on the economy boards building covers like the ones on the Insight for their car. Just be grateful it's factory and fits the car well.

no one would buy them

most insight owners are looking for ways to make their cars MORE efficient, not less

for instance, one of the big mods that people like to do in the insight world is a HOT air intake
yes HOT
they run tubing from the opening on the airbox around to the back of the engine, to pull hot air off of the cat
a warmer intake temp makes the engine run leaner, leaner fuel mix = more MPG

or you could just get real creative and paint a wheel well on the cover, that way its still there, but looks like everything is showing.
