had Dish before.. hated it.. i stick w/ digital cable.. free HD, free equipment

Ok.. Anyone have any advise as to which satellite TV service is the best? Any to avoid like the plague? I'm sick of my fuzzy ass cable and they just removed the discovery channel.. Which is pretty much the only channel I watch. Other than the learning channel, which was deleted. And speed, which after swearing it wouldn't cover nascar has become the fucking nascar channel..

Anyway.. Dish network, Pegasus, Direct TV, etc etc.. Who and why? or why not?

Did you check out ATT Uverse? Thats Fiber optics

i got dish network, and we get some pretty good channels... discovery, speed, etc. in the basic package, but satellite dishes are notorious for failing to work under weather conditions. i recommend cable. =D

FIOS is expensive still. We have direct tv here, really no complaints. All paid tv pisses me off anyway, there are no good channels anymore. Military/History channel all replay the same shit each and every night. SPEED has turned into the fucking NASCAR channel. USA is putting out some okay shows though so it isnt all horrible.

Absolutely correct... especially about the history channel.

Internet > Cable / Satellite.

If you cant find what you want to watch online, then you should go outside and play.

I've had 0 issues with comcast after they ran new hardline in my neighborhood.

You know how to get them to run new cable in your neighborhood? Get a couple neighbors to call them up and say "I can hear airplanes talking through my TV." You wouldn't believe how fast they'll have trucks out there.

After I got my neighbors to do that with me, they offered us all free HD cable for a year, and promotional pricing for our internets.

It fixed my fuzzy problem, even on standard cable channels, and the HD cable rocks.

I may be bias because I work for the cable company, but you are aware that all analog cable is going to be migrated to digital in a mater of 2 years... The days of analog TV is slowly coming to an end.

I am not sure of your cable company now, but Comcast offers a 'digital start' package for ~29 bucks a month for a year, then increases to the exact cost you are paying now. Look into digital... before you look into other providers. You will receive all the channels that you have lost, and gain on demand.

Best DVR is Dish Network. Its quicker....for sure. The unit responds to the remote quickly and it has multiple options (15 second jump forward or backward). This is cool for me b/c I record a lot of shows (Deadliest Catch, Burn Notice, Wheeler Dealer, etc) So its nice to have a unit that reacts well to me fast forwarding through commercials.

I haven't really had an issue with DirectTV and have had it almost two years. The only time my service has gone out is during severe storms or a really bad snow storm. In that case I just switch to my 10.00 rabbit ears from best buy. I will take that over charter cable any day of the week.
