i have a b20z and im trying to decide wether or not to get rid of the signature b20z intake manifold with the big ugly air resinator on top. im hearing a little about replacing it with the b18 ls intake manifold but what im thinking is that it would be choking the motor out considering that air resonator on top of the b20 is there for mid range torque.. im a little lost anyone got ant commments please let me know.. gettin ready for a turbo

i'm having the same exact problem, the only thing ive been able to get from it is that the b20z manifold is shorter than the b20b manifold so i dont see why it cant be used but if your going to get a ls manifold make sure you get a throttle body for it too otherwise your going to have to do some work to the t.b. to get it to work with the ls mani

what are your goals with the engine?

the b18 manifold should make more power if you have the supporting mods to go along with it, most importantly dyno tuning. and if you are really building this engine get a better flowing intake mani, like the skunk2 or something.

The B18 mani fits fine on the B20Z. Any loss is negligible. Like mdpsEG said, you will need the complete manifold, including throttle body.

I don't know about the B20Z mani, but the B20B mani is too tall for the EF and EG chasis--you can't close the hood without it hitting.

but the mani can work for the EK chasis?

I still think its too tall but you can try to dry fit it once the motor/trans is mounted up. But if you have an LS Intake Manifold.....like Starskey and Hutch........"Do It....Do it"

I agree. i put an ls intake manifold on my cousins b20z and it pulled hella hard!!!

we never had any problems and it had plenty of torque through out the hole rpm range. we also used the ls ecu.

I had the B20B in my EF and used the LS IM, and it was a whole ton of fun. Ran the LS ECU, too.

If you use the LS IM and ECU...its all good and no other tuning/mods need to be done. The fuel curves and air/ratio are different. Rev limiter is different too (I am pretty sure B20 ECU limits about 6-6.5K rpm's)

ok guys your help was great but for future reference i ran into some things i dont think anyone really expected. i ended up also needing the ls fuel rail, fuel pressure reg. the rail bolts of the b20 dont bolt up to ls IM.no prob though. Theres also a random useless mount for the i.m. so that needed to be taken out to take off the lower manifold bolts from the underside.its not an obvious mount so its kinda disguised.haha other than that only a couple vacc lines had to be swapped around and getting all the sensors was fairly easy. thanks for all the help its some good power for cheap!haha

Bracket is a brace to hold the back of the IM up in the air and not put stress on the head from the weight of the IM. its a bitch to get to but I got mine off with some patience when I switch to a USDM IM

yea i know. just kinda looked over it not thinkin about it i guess so it threw a twist at me when i was takin out the bolts from under the car. it was kinda dark under there

what will it take to keep my 95 civic an auto tranny when i do the b16a swap?

what mods will i have to do?
