They count toward your kills, but not the killstreak. So, if you go 30-0, but 7 of them were from killstreak rewards obtained through care packages, the streak you earned was only 23-0.
It's the same way when you're trying to earn one of your three killstreak rewards, if you go 8-0, drop the emergency airdrop, a sentry gun that gets you 3 kills won't get a chopper gunner for you, you have to personally get those next three kills.

as long as they aren't in care packages they count towards your next killstreak bonus. If you get a predator missle in a care package and kill 2 people, you would still have to kill two more if you wanted your 7 kill streak award.

imho, uav is pretty pointless. you would be better served with a care package.

Ok, for example; Your three killstreak rewards you have set up before the game are;
Predator Missile (5)
Emergency Airdrop (8)
AC130 (11)
You get 5 gun/grenade/rocket kills, open up and call in your Predator, it blows up three people and your Airdrop opens up. When you drop your Em. AD in, it gives you another predator and 3 ammo crates (like it does to me...), you use that Em. AD given Predator and it gives you another three kills, but it doesn't open up your AC130 option, YOU personally have to kill 3 more people before you open up your AC130.
Care Package, Sentry Gun & Emergency Airdrop rewards getting kills do not count towards your streak, only you shooting or blowing someone up and your three chosen killstreak rewards will count toward your streak.
My streak is out to 29 right now because I had Harrier (7), Chopper Gunner (11), and Nuke (25) set.
I got my harriers, they got 2 people, so I shot 2 more people, this opened up my chopper gunner, which I used to kill 18 more people before the duration of the chopper gunner ended.
Then I called in my nuke, which kills me first, then everyone else. So I was 29-1.
UAV is very helpful sometimes. The game I was 29-1, not one single person had CB on on the other team. Knowing this before the chopper gunner is extremely helpful.
Not using CB, you'll show up as the red dot on the enemies UAV scans, using CB you won't show up unless you fire an unsilenced weapon.
So using Cold Blooded with a silenced weapon and Ninja Pro (invisible to heartbeat sensors and silent footsteps) is the best class you could use.

Yeah, it's a trade off. It's got great accuracy and almost no recoil, but the damage rating is low. Stopping Power helps, but then that means no Cold Blooded...
I was working on the l86 before I quit playing MW, all I had left was the fall camo, extended mags and the icon

Wow I find it different on the acr, I get a lot of one hit kills and I don't use stopping power, buT I play HC so no need for stopping power when its included in the HC matches
Meh, I think UAV is useful. I don't know about you, but I like being able to see where the other team is on the map. Just yesterday I was playing in quarry and lobbed a grenade just based on the radar and got a kill.
UAV is also helpful because it benefits your whole team rather then just yourself. I guess the flipside to that is most likely somebody else is going to have it equipped in a typical team game, so if everybody has it then it's not as beneficial for you...

bahaha.. i straight owned this other team a minute ago on Underpass TDM.. 29-0.. got to my 9 kill streak, called in the Pavelow.. nobody was running cold blooded so it destroyed the other team, then i missed w/ my predator missle, care package was a chopper gunner, YAY!!.. i went and hid in the building near the canal thing and worked fools hard...
after the match they were all "fucking faggot murderface".. lol.. think i pissed them off?
