Damn I am such a nube, I pulled my old D15b non vtec, to replace it with a d15d vtec. but am having problems with the new harness.. Local wrecker sold me the engine and trans with a p08 ecu and loom form a ef civic sedan but the new harness is totaly different, I have searched for hours on this site and have found heaps of threads about swaps for non tec to tec but nothing about this kind of problem, anyone got any ideas, Cause I can't tell if I have the wrong harness and now don't know if I can even use it.. And cause I'm such a freakin tard I was stupid enough to cut the non tec harness to remove it cause I was too lasy to do it properly.. Help me I am a stupid noob

.:FFS TechNet:. best place for Honda swap wiring. You are best off using your stock harness in the car and just add the vtec wiring from the vtec motor harness. Get a P28 ECU and chip and tune it for the best results.

Are you in America? What year is the car the motor is from? Going into?
Hi No in Little old NewZealand, the engine removed was a 1995 civic ferio sedan with a d15b non tec, and The engine I am trying to fit is a d15b vtec from a 1995 ef civic sedan I was hoping to use that loom since I cut the non tec one when removing the old engine.. Thanks for the reply Hope you've got the answers Cause I know I don't :(

Hi, The car is a civic ferio with d15b non vtec (now removed) I severed the loom and have a d15b vtec and auto with loom all from a ef civic 1995 the ecu is a p08 Was told that that would work, but after trying to fit the new loom I now think it won't work because it's alot different to the old loom..
Any Ideas? Thanks

Hi Thanks for that, I'll take a look inside..
I read in another swap thread about the p28 and p08 ecu's and supposedly can use either, but I think the loom is the problem, I have a civic ferio sedan, it had a d15b non tec with a p2 ecu, it has three plugs into the ecu,
I cut the old harness to bits removing the old non tec engine, so can't use it now anyhow's,
The donor car was a 1995 ef sedan and had the vtec harness with a p08 ecu etc, I was told it would work if I swaped the harness over but after trying to fit it I come unstuck, because nothing really matches up in the engine bay..
have I scrued up? cause I keep thinking That I probably really need a harness from a civic freio like mine but with vtec assy etc. God Please Help I can fix damn near anything mechanical, but am worse than enraged chimp when it comes to electrics:eek:

Did your car have a carburetor? Or Dual Point Fuel Injection? If either it is going to be fun. You're probably going to want to grab the whole harness from the donor car, from the engine bay to the ECU.

It a 95 so unless other countries are different it will be fuel injected. You did not need to cut the harness to remove the motor 92-95 Civic harnesses unplug at the passenger shock tower. You should never cut up a harness when removing an engine. The D15 Vtec harness should just plug into the plugs I just mentioned at the shock tower. 92-95 already have Vtec wiring from there to the ECU I believe. Check the link I posted before, it is the end all for swap wiring questions.

They are, they had all three around the world, and the wiring is different between them.

Only 1992 Civics are all wired for VTEC from shock tower to ECU. Other than that....(93-95) the EX and Si and VX are the only ones (and Del Sol VTEC).

OP:
The 95 Civic motor should be MPFI non-VTEC. But I don't know about New Zealand Hondas (although I would be suprised if a 1995 Civic was dual point or carb'd) If I am right, use the harness on the VTEC motor and run the 3 VTEC wires into the VTEC ECU (VTEC solenoid and Oil Pressure Switch) This can be done with some donor pins w/pigtails from a junkyard (to insert them into the ECU)

Hi again, thanks for the replys It was an injected engine, no carbs. I have the donor cars harness but it's totaly different, the old harness that I cut branches off at both shock towers, but the donor harness I have now is a single length type that feeds from euc through the fire wall then branches off one short side to the engine injectors, sensors starter etc, an the other has the couplincs to lights, rad, fan and alot of other plugs which I am not sure on. Think I have the wrong harness for the car.. Don't know, I checked the links posted but I didnt find any thing that helped.. Shit!

You need a harness from an EG 92-95. Yours is a 95, OBD I. Actually, I believe you can get by using your harness, with your injectors, and a distributor from another 92-95 SOHC vtec engine, and get a P28 ECU, and then just run the wires for vtec from the plug to your ecu, and replacing any other sensors on the engine who's plugs are different with yours.

Hell yes, all makes sence now!
Thanks for all your help, I've Got the right harness and ecu all plugs in! easy...
just need to fit the engine, Then I'll be rolling again (and not staring at harness for hours)
Chur B happy I am!
