I have a 97 Hx i just got from my cousin, believe it has a burnt valve at 355k. Yes orginal motor and tranny; and its still a daily driver. I want to put a new motor in it but the d16y5's are a bit difficult to find. So will it take any d16? Meaning will it match up to the tranny or will i need a new one? Which d16 model should i get; i wanted to put a b16 in it but i cant afford it right now. X) I would really love to try and fit an H22 in there but i dont think it will fit just because of the price. Any suggestions?

Whats wrong with ur y5? What would give me the most power for by buck out of the D16? My dream was to make an rb25 240sx but being there becoming difficult to find and I have this car now im just gonna hook this up. So I need a d16 that would be worthy of building up, b16 may be in the future when I get my career, but for now a d16 will have to do. Also how difficult is it to swap, could I do it? im not a mechanic but ive done some vehicle work before, never dropped a motor or trans though, driveshaft in a ford ranger is as close as ive been lol. And what about the electronics would that match up too?

Yea but the trans and engine get costly, my prices are off ebay just the motor runs like 1200ish, Thinking about a d16z6 which is around 700 on ebay. I havent checked my local junk yards yet but what are the chances of me finding any b-seris motor lol.

Oh, god not my rep . Really dude, just figured asking questions is what a forum is for and that to these ppl in the forums it would be a common question and easily answered.

The Y5 is a lean burn fuel economy motor so dont even waste your time tring to get any power out of it. The best thing to do is find a B series motor trans and harness and swap that in. I started with a B18B1 swap in my Hx used a Dx 5 speed harness because of the 5 wire Y5 O2 sensor.

Hmm the b18 will fit? Problem is money thats a bit costly to do the motor and trans, the main reason i want to swap is my old motor is more or less beat, Im lookin for something to get me around thats not as gutless as the Y5. That and i do not have a garage everything will take place in a parking lot lol. so dropping a trans on jackstands sounds like it would be a pain in the a**. Thats why i was asking about the z6. Are the obd2-obd1 harness adaptars on ebay as plug and play as they say? I still have to find the motor, ebay prices are retarted. My game plan is to get a halfway decent motor, then do everything else; then once i get my career then go back and put a real motor in it. So my main issue right now is obd2-1 and whats else would i need to install the motor? new mounts? My friend is graduating from pennco tech so he will be coming down to help me but that doesnt help with what parts i would need. Any suggestions??? Thanks for all your time and feedback.

Oh and to all the faggots that gave me bad feed back which im like neg 171 or some crap and the the fag that called me the moron; My bad for not knowing how to do a swap, im pretty sure you were just as cluess one time. If all you do is sit on forums and give ppl bad rep, get a fucking life, give you a hint no one gives a shit.

Ok, the only issue is finding one the z6, ive looked around here I dunni. Another issue is the 02 sensor wire, hx is a five wire and at least what ive been told the y8 is a 4wire. See im broke but im going to try and work out a deal wth this guy on craigslist, he has an 07 5peed trans and motor he wants 6 for it but hes unsure of thrle motor code, all he knows is its a 1.8. Problem.is im broke lol

dont be a puss. you dont need anything to hold up the trans. Motor swaps are cake and honda trannys are light. swap some sort of b series or you'll regret not doing it later after all the work you are doing to swap motors. you will have to separate the transmission anyways, so why not go the whole nine yards and make it worth your time.

also, if you're broke, just save up until you can afford to do things properly and not half ass it.

Go B series. A B18B1 or a B20B1 can be found for really cheap and yes they fit into a Civic it has been done a million times. Like I said I have a LS Vtec B18B1 with B16 head in my 98 Hx.
Quite being a whinny little girl. You are asking some really basic Honda B series swap question like "can a B18 fit in a Civic". Of coarse you are going to be get people responding the way they are. All of your questions can be answered with about 20-30 minutes of google searching "Civic B18 swap" and reading.

Just to answer a few basic questions here...a B16 or B18 will easily bolt in to your Civic like a stock motor would. If you go B-series you'll need a B-series transmission though, or a B2D adaptor plate. An H22 will fit as well. It's not exactly bolt-in, but it's not THAT difficult. Don't waste your time with that 2007 motor and tranny. That will NOT be an easy swap for your car.

The easiest thing (aside from another Y5) would be the D16Y8. The D16Z6 wouldn't be bad either, but you will have to deal with an OBD conversion...

B18b1 with b16 mugen head... Can hear the vtec engage or open up but doesn't put me back in the seat like I've supposedly heard??

properly tuned there shouldn't be a massive power change when the cam lobes change
cant really tell you much more without a dyno sheet
