You've got to start somewhere.

The Democrat governor's approval rating keeps dropping, I can't see him getting reelected. We'll see how it goes next year. People are fed up with Hickenlooper not just on gun control, but with a lot of his policies.

well, half of Colorado is washed out right now.
but be a good time if you're in construction to head that way

My mom and stepdad got airlifted out of Jamestown earlier today. I've met the guy Joey that got killed in the mudslide. Many of my friends there have major damage to their homes. Shit is crazy.

Things have been crazy here, almost 2000 homes damaged. Tons of evacuees, roads washed out, it's crazy. They say it's a 100 year flood, but you have to understand what that means: 100 year floods in this area traditionally combine rain with rapid snow run-off. This is September, the mountains have long thawed. This could be something like a 1,000 year rain event, just guessing, but a 100 year flood with no run off is serious business.

It's pretty crazy that some of the streams are seeing flow rates way higher than ever seen even on high runoff years. Boulder creek for example normally runs about 1,000cfs during peak runoff, last weekend it got up near 6,000cfs.

I'm a big fly fisherman, and it's going to take a while before any of the local streams are fishable again. I'm sure some of the fish populations will survive the floods, but I bet a lot of fish have also been swept downstream.

The fish in most of these streams have never seen flow rates this high.
