Dropped the car off today.

I was considering getting a carbon hood, but decided against it. Ended up being a bit more expensive than I originally thought. But no matter.

Windshield and tint are being fixed too.

You getting windshield tint finally? Good man. You'll notice a huge difference.

Sorry. You misread. And I was a bit vague.

No windshield tint. My windshield has been cracked all winter from a rock chip. Getting the windshield replaced. Additionally I'm having the tint fixed on 3 of the windows. 2 being fixed for free under their lifetime warranty, one being fixed at my cost because I scratched the tint up while carrying parts in the back.

Car is all fixed up.
New hood
New fender
New headlight
Bumper and pass. fender blended

And I paid to have the cracked windshield replaced and get some of the tint fixed.

On the to-do list for summer mode:
Buy camber adjustable rear control arms from SPC (~$220)
Buy new summer tires
Install summer suspension and summer wheels
Get alignment + front fender roll

Blah.

Clutch master cylinder ate shit.
Hopped in the car after stopping for coffee
Clutch in, thought a heard a slight pop.
Started up fine.
Clutch in again to get out of my parking spot. Definite pop.
Clutch pedal now stuck to the floor.
Popped the hood, fluid leaking from the clutch master.

At least it wasn't something more expensive/difficult to replace. Like the diaphragm, or the throw out bearing.

Gonna throw on the summer suspension and wheels while I'm at it. Also needs a front brake job.

Well it has 121,000mi lol.

But honestly. Most of the issues I've had (minus the Headgasket) were partially my own fault as they were related to aftermarket parts.

Tires need replaced. But at the same time, I've had the same set of summer tires for 3 years/seasons... So not too bad.

It just seems like things fail or need replaced more often than normal because I put so many miles on it.

Replaced the clutch line with a SS braided one since I was in there. Just need to bleed the clutch and put the intercooler back on. New master was 160 (+10 to have it next day shipped) from Subaru. SS line was $20 bucks.

I keep good records of my repairs so let me list the things that have actually broken that needed repair out of pocket. This list will exclude routine maintenance items like mileage based services and brake replacements / oil changes.

May 2013 - Steering rack pinion valve started leaking. Replaced myself. - $289
September 2013 - Turbo inlet blew up during a boost leak test at IAG. IAG replaced it (half hr labor). Paid for an upgraded Perrin unit. - $250
November 2013 - car started surging at cruise speeds. Narrowed it down to the front O2 sensor. Replaced myself. - $100
February 2014 - car seemed to run a tad lean. But it could be the cold, or maybe just my imagination. Replaced the BPV hose on a hunch. Haven't seen many problems since. Replaced with an upgraded Samco unit. - $90
May 2014 - Clutch master cylinder failed. Replaced with new OEM unit. - $170

That's about $900 spent on non-normal/routine things.

The engine build situation was a bit unique because I had a LOT of things replaced at the same time that were upgrades and not necessary to fix the issue. Had I just replaced what was needed to fix the headgaskets with no upgrades, probably would have only been about $2500.

And I've had some bad luck with the Koni shocks, but they have a lifetime warranty and I've only been out shipping a few times.

And if you're curious there's a few things I that needed fixed cosmetically due to accidents/my stupidity.

April 2011 - went around a traffic circle too tight and scrapped the side skirt on the curb. Paid IAG to replace it since it was less than my deductible. - $438
December 2011 - hit what I assume was a truck tire (never saw it) on the highway. Smashed my front bumper up. Repaired through insurance. $500 ded.
October 2013 - stone chip turned into a large crack on my windshield. Repaired out of pocket at same time as the next repair - $300
March 2014 - Rear ended a guy who stopped short on my while I was trying to pass him. No damage to his car. Smashed my headlight. Repaired through insurance. - $500 ded.

Everything else has been routine stuff and mods.

bleeding the clutch was a pain in the ass. mainly because i didnt have anyone to help me, so i bought a vacuum bleeder from Sears. seemed to work ok. not sure if i got every last bit of air out, but the clutch feels about the same as before. it could probably stand to be bled a bit more but ok for now.

Also started working on swapping back to the summer mode setup. only got the fronts done. will do the rears tomorrow.
as well as replaced the front brake discs and pads.
shop appointment is on the 19th. will get new tires put on + allignment + front fender roll/pull. then ill be set for summer.

I really struggled with rusted/seized bolts. this winter was really long, and lots of snow/salt. PB blasted the fuck out of everything to get it all apart. Anti seized it all putting it back together. hopefully i wont have as much issue next time.

my replacement front O2 sensor will be here today. i'm hoping that it finally fixes these surging issues, otherwise it's something with the tune that needs touched up.

but i spent most of the weekend fixing this thing

replaced clutch master cylinder and clutch line
bled clutch
replaced from brake rotors and pads
replaced winter suspension/wheels/tires with summer suspension/wheels/tires
regreased rear sway bar, and stiffened up my rear sway (22mm bar, middle hole to stiff hole, effectively making it a 23mm rear bar)

going to be limping along this week. new summer setup isn't aligned yet, and my tires are shot to shit. but I have an appointment on the 19th to get new tires, alignment, and fender roll. so ruining already ruined tires isn't a huge concern lol.
