hi guys like the title says.. got a 91 civic with over heating issues. I'll try to list down everything that could be relevant. The car is turbo'd on 5 pounds it's on a base map tune. I have water pump done.. head gasket isn't a problem. New skunk 2 rad and slim fan. had a problem with the fan not kicking on so I wired it to my main fuse so it will be running all day long.. rad properly burped and I'm still having over heating issues. it's fine at idle but when I'm on the highway I can't cruise more then 10 minutes without it heating up more then 3/4 of the way up. I don't have a f/a Guage. I'm starting to think that the basetune Isn't good. I'm going to get a proper tune in a week buy I don't wanna go.. pay my money and can't complete the tune because my car overheats.

getting a proper tune is the first step. If it's not the cause, it will at least be safer, make more power, and get better mpg. it's worth it.
Check that the thermostat isn't stuck closed....
it implies that that may be why the electic fan never kicked on... the temp sensor on the hot side of the pipe never got to temp because the thermostat didn't open or something like that.

thanks for your time. I forgot to mention that I had wiring issues with the fan so that's why I hot wired it to see if that would help the issue.. The thermostat is new. and like I said I want and need to get a tune in a week but how it is, is that I wanna go with my car healthy so I don't waste the turners time as they cost a lot of money for their time. I don't want to make two trips because I need to get something fixed or get something replaced. thanks again for your time

I also read that a lot of people with ef's have a lot of problem with over heating becauseo the fact that there is no room in the engine bay. my rad is literally centimeters from my exhaust mani. and I had to zip tie one of the top clips to the rad because the clip that hold the rad fan to the rad melted because it was touching the mani..

Maybe some high temp header wrap will help keep the exhaust temps in the exhaust, not in the bay? Are you venting wastegate gases in the bay too? if you're not internally gated on the turbo, make sure you run a dump tube to below engine level on the ground so the heat goes out the car some how instead of lingering in the bay.

Yes dump is below the car and yeah I'm thinking of doing everything to lower down temp. heat wrap, hood risers.. If that doesn't work I'm boycotting the hood lol thanks for your help I appricate it
