Have you confirmed the head bolts/studs align on the #4 end?

yes head is on and torqued, heads are identical, cams are different ,goes on fine long as you use the zc head bolts, and the timing belt covers dont line up at all (who are we kidding im not using that shit) your thinking brown top vs blacktop maybe ? only reason I honestly didnt use the a1 head just with the zc cams is because the a1 head had 3 cam cap bolts broken off when I took the valve cover off, soo I just said fuck it and changed them, the complete engine gasket kit came with a head gasket anyways

I was thinking D16A1 vs D16A6. No experience here with the A1, but know the DOHC ZC head no workie on the D16A6 because of the #4 head bolt positions.

Your setup looks fine. b

I was about to say, the blacktop a1 and the gen 3 zc are IDENTICAL engines other than cams and the zx has a larger intake manifold , im probably cutting and polishing the a1 intake for carbs and keeping the complete zc intake for shits and giggles in case I decide to go FI later

For best tune & performance the carbs will be easiest. For gas mileage and longevity factory FI. Since you have or will change the static compression ratio it will most likely need to be tuned to be right. Will it run with CR changed and stock FI & chip? Yes. Will it be close to optimum? No. That's where you can just change the main jets in the carbs to make it right.

its going into the car carb'd at first just to get the engine in the car, wont have to change gas tanks, fuel lines, get to keep for the most part stock ignition, thing about carbs, unless you want to do a draw/blow through setup your really stuck being carb'd and n/a , soo if I ever decide to go bigger fi would probably be the route to go, and d-series turbo parts are cheap for quality stuff, I cant wait to see what its going to be like with 150ish hp in the 79

That muffler sucks, it is just toooo fucking big.

Yes it still has that "Piece of shit hanging under the rear bumper" look about it.

But it is a step or two better than this: (Patented "Turd Hurler" exhaust system)

Can't wait to see it with the "Blowmaster" Series 40....
