:shrug2: that car, while also fast as fuck in a straight line, does absolutely nothing for me.

The corvettes will never hold supercar prestige, even if they hit super car numbers in the performance arena. Same problem with the 911.

The sheer popularity of them has made them common place. Almost no one does a double take at a Vette driving by them. nor a 911. maybe a SLIGHT glance at a 911. because you se 1432432 every day. it's nothing special.

See a gtr, you look.
See a viper, you look.
See a tesla, you look

and all those are in the ball park price wise. of course the 300k cars, you always look at :)
But they have a certain exclusivity that the mentioned marques do not hold, even if they are better or more bad ass or cheaper.

And when 95% of them sold are automatics, and driven slowly by middle-later aged balding mid life crisis men, never actually being driven as they were supposed to be, it takes the car even further away from the exclusivity and prestige of a driver's car to make we drivers, except corvetteguy, really care about them. :)
First time looking at this thread and I have to say, in 1 year the new teslas are so common that I dont even look at them anymore. In my office IN TEXAS (where there are no tesla dealers) there's easily 10 in the parking lot. Pretty good adoption rate in 1 year.

Agreed, I'd like to rev it and do donuts, but other than that, it's lost on me too. Instead of 1 car for $80k, I'd rather have 2, $40k cars.

GT-R is a beast on the track. It's easier to drive fast than anything else out there. One the street it's kinda blah after the novelty of launch control wears out. It has the personality of an expensive vacuum cleaner. Cool to look at and show off to your friends, but not that fun to actually use.

The Vette is crazy fast and a performance bargain. It gets there through the brute force method. It's a numbers car that is difficult to drive fast. Downright terrifying to drive at the limit on track. I've driven a C6 ZR-1 on track, and my cousin's 2014 Stingray with the 7M. The new car is a HUGE improvement.

Porsche is amazing. It's not quite as fast as the others and more expensive, but it makes up for it in feel, soul, style, and quality. I can actually speak from experience on all of these cars, and the 911 is the one I'd own.

The owner of the Vet clinic next to my house used to track an E92, he upgraded to a Porche GT3RS.

I'd probably go for 3 26k cars.... an r32 (legal now), another e46 m3, and a new accord sport for a daily :D
