The last couple of weeks we've had this strange issue where both our PCs bring the wireless down when we sleep them. At first it was hers but then mine started doing it too. I don't remember off hand if shutdown causes the issue but I will try it later on.

I don't think the router is the culprit, I've been running it for years with no changes except for the SSID every once in awhile.

Both laptops are relatively new and both running 8.1 Pro with no issues.

When the wireless goes out we have to reboot the router. Then it's back.

Strange as hell.

Windows has always sucked at sleeping/hibernating.

something never comes back right. 50% of the time, it would blue screen after a half hour of being awake. I point blame at windows in this case.

Windows 8 in my opinion should've died in the brainstorming stage of development. Such a POS! My dad got a new laptop with 8.1 and his Internet went down and he couldn't log into his computer because it wasn't online, WTF!

i don't have any issues anywhere else but at home. it causes wireless to drop from the router for EVERYBODY not just the machine that slept.

oh, i misread.

interesting. shutting off the pc turns off the router? wtf. never heard of that

Is there something in the router admin control panel thats checked off to allow this to happen? like a power save mode in the router?

what about just going into the device manager and selecting your wireless adapter and properties and power management tab and unchecking "allow computer to turn off this device to save power"
