There is such a thing as too much information. My Avalanche had the blower motor go out last month. GM original stuff is spendy. So here's the nitty gritty.

2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, 103,000 miles
W/ATC (Auto Temp Control, Dual)
If you don't have auto temp controls, this is the wrong post for you!

Blower motor stopped working. Tested motor, worked. Ohm test showed motor was worn, so decided to replace before it died. Fan control module is similar to resistor pack, but not the same. My Blower Control Module was DEFINITELY the problem. The original module would not push my new fan at any speed setting. The new module did. This is an EASY job for anyone with even mediocre mechanical skills! Splice three wires, mount the module, motor twists into place. Part numbers are numerous, and supersede one another constantly. Let me save you some time finding these numbers.

Part numbers:
ACDelco 15-81773 Blower Control Module (Fan Control) updated part#
ACDelco 15-81644 Blower Motor with fan cage

These parts probably fit Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, Silverado, and Avalanche from 2002 to 2006. I know the blower motor was listed for 2007-2010 Yukons also.

I bought both parts on EBay for $50-60 each. That's shipped, out the door!
I hope this helps someone.

Nice post, haven't seen you around in ages.

GM has some problems with their blowers. My truck is under recall for resistor and harness issues, I just need to get to the dealer sometime.

yeah, where have you been man? :)

Good writeup for the truck.
Aberdeen, WA:lol:

I still love Hondas, but I have a family. Wife, two kids, too many sports for the kids. I pop in for a peek once in a while, I just don't sign in. I can't believe that article I wrote years ago has over 30k views.

B, you nailed it on the head a few years back. You said, "you're 31 years old, whatcha doing still driving a Honda?" As it turns out, my job has been good to me, and I enjoy heated leather seats paired with a quiet cabin. I'd still rock the rubber off my 83 Rabbit GTI though! B3ST CAR EVAR!

Yes they do, and that's where some of the updated part numbers were.

So that's what I meant by Too much information. I spent a couple weeks tracking down part numbers. Auto controls are less common. I gave my VIN to gmpartsdirect, and they still got the part numbers wrong. I finally took my best guess, and rolled the dice on EBay.

It's good to hear from you guys:shades:

Honda just needs to make some better cars again.... we're here for the company nowadays more than anything else, at least in the lounge. pop in from time to time and say hi.
