genny needs a clutch.

Wouldn't extended slipping cause it to glaze the clutch face?

Only if you do it too much. An organic clutch disc will recover better also. You won't glaze it over if you do it a couple times.

My clutch is organic? what about GMOs? :X

i see it listed as " Steelback Brass Plus" not sure if that's organic.

seriously though, It's getting a little better every day... 800 on it now. 1st gear is still my annoyance, and it rattles like hell in neutral (clutch out, shifter in middle). 200 more rpms and the rattle goes away.

I'm talking about the disc material. It's "organic" in the sense that it's carbon based.

The comp stage 2 is a full face organic disc.

3k on it now.

It's less noisy, but still a rattle fest at low rpm coasting (ie, no load). It also rattles like crazy when in neutral, clutch out. I think maybe the throw out bearing is a pos or something.

It also has horrible gripping in reverse. impossible to back up slow without doing the ricer rev-rev-rev-rev-rev-rev to move 2 feet. sometimes 1st is like this too, but it's only occasional in first.

Anyway, you know what really grinds my gears? my new transmission. 5th started grinding already.
POS

Think i'll get a 2nd tranny replaced free? and while they are in there, maybe take a look at the clutch again and see if it's out of alignment or needs a new throw out bearing...

gotta call justin

worth a shot.

have you let anyone else drive it to see if they are any smoother?

the rattling sounds like it could be the TOB.

the clutch "grip" in reverse sounds odd. its not like the engine/clutch are spinning a different direction or anything. clutch disc engagement should be exactly the same regardless of what gear you have selected. maybe you're just subconsciously just not letting the clutch out far enough when backing up?

I love how the first thing everyone does is question B's driving ability :p. That's irritating about the transmission already :shouldhaveboughtanM:

10k on it now as i'm just shy of 71k miles on the car.
most of the warranty is up... 100k is only for the power train. i already used it on the tranny. short of a shortblock replacement, i have no warranty. justin doesn't work at hyundai anymore so i lost my hook up too. he went to a ford dealer :/

i sat in stop & go traffic for 3.5 hours yesterday (went to the big E with a new lady friend) and I've just absolutely fucking had it with this clutch. Nothing like apologizing for driving like a n00b shaking the whole car with a new girl. lol

I've just about had it with this car... kbb says its worth 10-12k... thinking about buying something ~5 years old in the 12+ range to throw a bit of cash on top of a trade and walk out w/ title in hand.
I'm thinking about getting an automatic luxury car or something for a change. i'm driving clients around from time to time and the genesis just isn't working for that either. I always try to back out of driving and see if they will. kinda sucks.

I did a drive by this car today to see it.

didn't talk to anyone... there was a couple guys there but i was just browsing. I love the interior combo and the price is pretty good. might go check it out sometime this week and see if numbers work. it should have 18s on it (i didn't check) and so my snow tires should be able to mount up too (not the wheels) so i'll be good for winter with the awd.

it's 5x112 .

also, jeff sylvester is selling a red c63 AMG he's in CT

but he wants 27K :)

yeah, would just swap my snow tires on to the oem benz wheels and junk the sport edition rims (they are crap. maybe i'll try to get $50 for them)

not looking to spend that kind of money or get 15 mpg either...
