Is that your lifetime?

Is that your lifetime?
No I reset it yesterday just to see what I am averaging now that I am driving to work..that's 1 way commute this morning...my lifetime was 35.6 before reset it.... It was 35 even when I started my job ....I imagine my new lifetime is going to average 40+

Stop and go traffic kills the MPG. When cruising on the fwy it gets around 40. And taking off from stoplights I like to make sure all 400+ lb/ft of tq are still there. :p
Yea I hit stop and go all this week on the commute home....but I'm averaging 43mpg since the reset ...if it stays over 40mpg I'll be stoked...actualy i was pretty thrilled atvthe 35mpg ...I'm starting to rack up the miles..almost 9100 I think I had 7800 when I started on 9/18...at least this will be a good long term test for reliability...

I hope they do not come out with a new 335d(340d?) type series...I'm not sure I could resist

This week i've averaged 11.1 mpg in my 330. All I do is sit in traffic on my 2.5 mile drive home. It usually takes about 25 minutes.

you could do that commute in 10-15 minutes on a bicycle, 25-30 minutes jogging, or an hour of slow walking.
i wish i was that close to my job :(

Always a good idea in theory, but you'd be a sweaty mess...weather....stopping other places before going home...etc....

most big offices these days have a gym/locker room/shower in them. even my dinky place has showers, but no gym lol

we don't even have a gym, how crazy is that...a Hospital/Health Center with no gym...apparently there are showers somewhere though

I would totally bike or just jog there. But I really don't want to be that sweaty mess when I get there. Now that I can take more time to get in and get settled, I will have more time. It's just really inconvenient to take a laptop and books home and bring a change of clothes each day.

I think you may be overestimated the sweat factor on a 15 minute leisurely bike ride.
10mph will get you there in 15 minutes and that shouldn't really elevate your heart rate that much that you'll be a sweaty mess. maybe its just me.

Either that 320d does way better MPG than my 335d, or your stop and go is for a distance of 50ft instead of 20 miles. lol

If you buy new or even slightly used, most luxury diesel's break even point in savings of mileage over a lower trim engine is pretty high. I entertained it when car shopping initially but it was like 90k for the apples to apples comparison for me. Especially with the low cost of gas these days. The only time it really benefits is when the price point is within a few thousand of each other and you're going to consistently put miles on it. The major benefit is if you own it a LONG time. Which for us BMW snobs, is a more expensive thing to do. Or lease?

Diesel has been cheaper than gas for me for quite some time now.
