Got this one stuck in my head. Apparently the chick did this in one uncut take.

i'm not a big tedx fan, but this is awesome.

It's amazing to think about the differences of what people do when they are bored. Smart people expand brilliance and creativity, stupid and lazy people...well that opinion varies by person.

What kind of effect(s) is Clapton using here? Sustain pedal and overdrive? Good song BTW.

nothing obvious. MAYBE a hit of compression and some reverb, but the amp is probably doing most of that.

just a tube amp cranked into tube distortion with the guitar tone backed down a bit to take some highs off. i doubt he has an overdrive in front of that amp at that stage volume.

This, while appears to be live, is highly produced/mastered on the back end. live music simply doesn't sound like this coming off the board.

which note are you talking about? lol There's no note in here that lasts more than a few seconds before a string is picked again.

at 4:30 you can see him hit a stomp box, not much tone change, probably just an od pedal.

sustain is a product of the wood of the guitar, magnets in the pickups, and the string type, along with the amp's internal circuitry and gain.

i can probably hang a single note on high gain of one my mahogany guitars for 30+ seconds.

his strat is probably ash and has a similar sustain property to it.

This is me being naive. I had this idea that you needed some sort of equipment to hold the (any) note that long without much space between. Maybe this is a better example. It seems like Cantrell can hold the notes pretty long during the solo portions of the song.

naw man, nothing there either. he's got an envelope filter (probably a wah wah pedal half-cocked) to get that 'lo fi' sound
when in doubt, watch Guthrie.
you can see he's only really picking once at the start of all these runs and bends

To soon?

Ohh yeah, and she says it's natural
I feel I've come of age
When she peeks I start to run

It amazes me that these guys can watch so many people around them die from drugs and keep doing them themselves.

tapping on an acoustic is VERY difficult in the first place. you have to hit it f'ing hard.

Sometimes I wouldn't even join games, I'd just sit in the lobby and listen to this. I don't know why it's so relaxing to me.
