I think the consensus is that a lot of people thought this would have happened a long time ago.

This sucks. Purple (STP) was my second CD bought after I got my first CD player. Grew up listening to this stuff.

So we've got Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder left. Lose those and my childhood is just about gone. How the hell is Keith Richards still alive again???

CW: [Laughs.] It was ridiculous that I had any responsibility or power. Do you remember that at a certain point, people started to envy us? I remember there used to be, like, 20 meetings to get anything done. You’d have to talk to 10 different people.
that certainly hasn't changed... at least when dealing with the business...

i spent most of my paper route money on bmg/ch

I remember all the shitty cd's i owned because i only wanted 5 and needed to order 3 more and had no idea wtf to buy. So i ended up with random stuff nobody heard about in oregon like Wu Tang Clan and Cam'ron. Guys known in the eastcoast, but nobody's oregon.

It sucks but not a surprise at all. I have always been a fan of STP and Velvet Revolver I saw STP on the family value tour like 14 years ago and it was a great show.

Huge STP fan and velvetrevolver fan too. Going to miss his voice for sure.

Saw Scott Weiland and the wildabouts this summer. They played like 3 wildabouts songs and the crowd started chanting stone temple pilots. He was visibly annoyed, but went ahead and did it anyway. Between songs he was saying words that didn't really add up to mean anything. He was obviously not there in the slightest. Still sounded true to the recordings as far as vocals went though.

went to Family Values in 2001 when STP was headlining
this was during his "sober" time
the rest of the show was decent enough... then STP came on
i watched him fuck up the first 3 songs and walked out thinking "someone needs to throw that mother fucker a bag"
that was the only time i have seen them live so i dont have anything to compare it to, it is completely possible that they might just suck ass live and this could have been par for the course, but it was pretty horrible

Here's a hell of an analogy for you.

STP is like the hot girlfriend you didn't date for very long and liked to fuck a LOT. Somewhere along the road you realized she isn't that hot anymore isn't quite the same to be around. You move on, but all you remember is how much fun she was to fuck. Every once in a while, you see an old picture and remember those fuck sessions. Then you see her in person and she starts to talk. The spark isn't there, but at least you had the good times from 15 years ago. The memories are better than the reality. You still wish the best for them, but moving on was best for everyone. Goodbye STP. We'll always have Plush and Interstate Love Song.

The only time I got to see him was when velvet revolver opened for AIC and I thought he was great but I was also pretty fucked up on some mushrooms and slash was playing guitar so who knows what really happened lol core will always be one of my favorite albums though, one you can put on and just let play
