hey everyone, i recently acquired a 96 accord and i wanna swap it to a more powerful Vtec motor and something i could possible turbo later on, what are my options as far as compatibility it currently has a f22b2 The stock 2.2 non Vtec

do i need to do anything with the computer going from a non Vtec to a Vtec motor

Yes, you will need the H22's computer or one of the easily programmable VTEC ECUs, like the P28 from the 1992-1995 Civic Ex/Si.

The easiest thing for you will be to figure out what OBD setup the car has, and then buy an H22 swap with the same setup. This will make the wiring as easy as possible.

What you are going to spend buying a HEALTHY obd2 h22 (obd2 is 96+) and buying the gasket kits and seals and axles and timing belt/water pump etc (should literally reseal and do all that before even thinking about putting a motor in) and mounts and ecu etc you can buy a already swapped faster car on craigslist... also esp in obd0/obd1 vtec is over rated big time , if you arent familiar with swaps there are more direct swaps to go into it ex f23 non vtec, also if you have emissions there just completely forget about it

I would if i was building a street race car, but this will be more of my commuter/ daily with a little bit of spunk plus the car was given to me for free.
Honestly accept it will always be slow and its a great economy car, just drive it and stack back money for a project you dont have to daily ... there literally wont be ANY "spunk" until at least 1k+ is spent , and even then even if h22 powered supporting mods would be wanted ex tires/wheels/suspension , which are things id personally do first before swapping it because that actually makes the car fun, this isnt the early 2000s anymore and h22s arent just laying around anymore and ones that are esp if cheap are almost 30 yr old tired motors, im really not trying to be a dick or negative im being realistic , also would you be doing the swap yourself and do you have the tools to do it ? Also a simple google search covers all this on countless forums
