Not a single thread about the MCU Movies lately?

I'm not going to give any spoilers, but definitely give time to watch literally everything before Endgame.

Exactly zero of my theories or predicts came true, but some variations of them were right.

Anyone watch it yet?

Took my son Friday. I enjoyed it. Haven't seen every one of the movies in the mcu, nor will I. Don't have that kinda time.

I watched it yesterday before watching GoT.

I thought it was fine. Wouldn't pay to see it again, but had fun watching it. After a total of 20 films in the series, it felt right on par with the rest of them. I think they need to take a break for a while. it's been a long time with the same actors, plots, tone, etc.

I kind of agree, but at the same time, it's pretty awesome that they've been able to keep all of these actors engaged this long to build a movie universe unlike anything we've ever had before.

They've already announced new movies for Black Panther, Spiderman, Dr. Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy, so some of them will be continuing on, but with Disney's acquisition of Fox, I do think they intend to fully utilize that to branch out. Now they can redo X-Men and Fantastic Four as part of the Marvel Universe. Could be awesome if done right.

Star Wars would be the closest comparison. But you're right, there isn't really anything with that much material that was/is that closely integrated. You'd have to find some author that wrote a lot of similar books, but even then would be hard to do. So many story lines are based on just one person.

The fact that it released so close to captain marvel, and I didnt make time to see that in theater kinda made me upset a few times. I mean I get she's basically superman, but jeez, if she's gonna be integral to the outcome of the movie maybe we should have waited a few more months to at least let people see that one on video?

Also....how you gonna dedicate 5 minutes of screen time to explaining your time travel rules only to throw that out the window in the last 5 minutes of the movie. That ending for cap was stupid.

Yep, I took issue with that as well. If I mean, I suppose it's possible that he he lived an entire lifetime in an alternate timeline and then returned using his time suit, but if that was the case, it was very unclear from the way he showed up on the bench at the end. They made it seem like he lived an alternate life within the main timeline and then went to the park and waited on the bench that day, but (as you said) they devoted 5 mins earlier in the film for Hulk to explain to Ant-Man that the Back to the Future style time travel is not how it actually works. Having elderly Cap sitting on the bench like that raises a bunch of questions. Wouldn't the main timeline have turned out completely different if the younger version of Cap had no been around from 2011ish to 2023?

am i that old that i don't know what MCU is?

Haha, maybe, but you're not much older than me.

MCU = Marvel Cinematic Universe, basically all of the Marvel moves that are connected, so the Fox-produced X-Men and Deadpool movies are not included.

And DC comic based movies are DCEU. DC Extended Universe, because of course.
