Bogged it bad off the line.

Spun the tires through the 60', and beyond. I launched at like 6k thinking it wouldn't spin, lol. Wrong.

Oh well, I wanted a 17, and I got it.

You should plasti dip the whole car.

(i was looking for plasti dip for my truck wheels and found this video for painting a honda civic lol)

lol dont plastidip it , it doesnt last that long and is terrible to remove

id $500 single stage it before plastidip or just have the hood/individual panels painted and reinstalled

I was 90% joking. I just didn't expect to see a whole video on how to plasti dip your car and have the subject be a Honda Civic.

Has anyone heard of or used BMTune?

http://www.bmtune.com/

It looks like this guy is actively developing it, which is a plus compared to the other folks making tuning software. I still believe Hondata is just rationing features they knew they "had" for the past 10-15 years, and Crome is dead (but still works), so this might be an OK option?

Bowel movement tune? Not bashing, just had to comment. Time to read up on this guy too.

Not counting tools I bought, because those are durable, and I'll use them again, I've spent $1385 on this car, including purchase price, tags, title, fees, and parts.

Parts cost is $869 so far.

Gonna pick up some wheels, stuff to make a wastegate pipe, boost control solenoid, stuff to make a downpipe, slim electric fan for the AC condenser, and probably some paint -- I figure that'll be $300-ish, putting me at about $1700 all said and done.

Then I've just gotta get a tune, and find out what breaks with the power adder.

Current issue is the AC condenser fan doesn't spin freely. I tried working on it last week, but lost interest. Now, I'm going to need some space there, so I might as well replace it completely with one of those "slim fan" deals from autozone/amazon/walmart and be done with it. I'll potentially convert it to a pusher-fan to give me some more room.

I fixed the AC, by putting a pusher fan on the condenser. The fan was a little crushed from the accident, and apparently it just gave up the ghost a while back and I didn't know it, I just knew it stopped working as well as it should after I checked for room for the turbo.

Now there should be room for a turbo.

I went through the turbo kit boxes, and yep. Got everything to make it work. :D Oil lines, fittings, restrictor, drain fittings, and everything needed, which is pretty nice.

I also got the driver's running light/turn signal socket corrosion taken care of, so now maybe the sheriff's deputy who has my area will stop giving me the evil eye all the time, lol.

I'm going to do some work breaking the exhaust manifold bolts loose over the next couple days, then maybe I'll be able to test fit the turbo manifold and figure out the down pipe and dump tube situation. I'd like to make the wastegate dump into the exhaust piping, but I don't know if it will all fit in the engine bay.

Had a few minutes to check superheat on the civic, and added some more r134a because it needed it. Now it'll pull 45° deltas while stationary with a 72° ambient temp, and nothing but a small box fan blowing air towards it.

Maybe tonight I'll get the passenger door wiring harness figured out. The speaker I thought was bad isn't, the door just has to be opened about 3-7" for it to work. I suspect the door harness in the grommet under the fender has breaks in it.

Still haven't touched the door... Lol.

I did buy a car seat, got it installed, and took my wife and daughter out for a spin. After some reluctance, we drove on a main road and went to a local gas station to get some drinks and snacks like it was 1999 again. The lack of unbroken door panels really irks my wife, so I just ordered two aluminum door panels from lrbspeed.com and they should be here sometime in the next 5 weeks.

I think then I'll vinyl wrap the Aluminum to keep it from being too "race car" looking, and then I'll have a solid winner here on the homestead. I just have to fix the door speaker and window...

Got in some playing around with Crome, which aside from being buggy with an Ostrich 1.0, it's not bad. I got a halfway-decent driving tune for the engine done based on a d16z6 tune. It now actually drives better with that than it does the OBD2 p2p ecu. Now it's just time to get a wideband thrown in, get someone else to drive it around, and smooth it all out. Data logging on crome sucks compared to hondata, but it's so much cheaper, I'll take it. I'm not going to be able to do the final turbo tune myself anyway, so NBD.

I started looking at paint, and I think single-stage tractor paint is going to win this one. Then, I'll paint the LS mesh wheels in a matching/complementary color.

There's something up with the door connector, I got the speaker working, but not the window yet. Maybe it is the master switch after all?

Yeah, looks like it's the master switch. The connector is clean, repacked with grease, and tests all good. Apparently you can't jumper the master switch on this model, so it's a "throw $30 at this problem and hope it fixes it" kind of problem.

I picked up some rattle-cans of white paint and satin clear coat, so at least the front end paint is going to match completely.

nice to see all the old stuff still works!

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with a running working, driving car for what I've got into it. The tune is finally where I want it to be (just in time to move to forced induction) and datalogging is pretty sweet. Crome today is nowhere near Hondata s300 was back in 2008, but I've only spent $288 on everything for Crome compared to spending $500 on an s300.

I split it out, and without all the go-fast parts, I spent $1088 on it including car purchase and registration. Unfortunately, I spent easily that much on tools and go-fast parts. $979 on just the go-fast parts so far. Currently, the total sunk cost in this car is $2069.

My daughter loves this car, we think it's because she knows I spend a lot of time working on it, not because it's remarkable in any way. I think I'm going to do the headliner in some kind of fun fabric for her. Not sure what yet, I suppose we'll go to a walmart or other fabric store and select something after the turbo stuff is all done. I may do the aluminum door panels in the same fabric, as long as it's not super-offensive. I just don't want to roll around in a 20-year old turbo civic with too many race-car-looking parts and attract unwanted attention.

The 550cc injectors, turbo manifold, HKS Blow-off valve, and short shifter get here today. Those parts will probably sit on the bench for a while.

Last night I stripped the two nuts on the NA exhaust manifold studs that always strip out on a d-series... The bottom two. I bought new nuts and I'm just gonna chase the studs. I actually have new studs in a rubbermaid box if it comes down to it.

Downpipe gets here Friday, but the intercooler piping gets here in June supposedly... But, I doubt it... It's getting shipped from PENNSAUKEN, NJ 08110, which is only an hour away.

I already pulled the windshield washer reservoir, airbox, and got the engine bay slightly cleaned up. Gonna drain the oil, put a fresh filter on, install the oil feed line for the turbo, get the turbo mocked up, drill the oil return hole in the pan and weld an AN bung in, and by then the charge piping should be here.

I got the front end painted, bumper, fenders, and I plan on masking the rest of the car off and spraying after I get the rest of the work done. I sprayed the wheels LS Mesh wheels with black paint, they look alright, I think I'm going to take an electric sander to the faces, lip, and such to make them a little bit brighter, then spray some matte/satin clear on them.

That's not too bad for an "Si". lol

A turbo'd Civic Si used to be the shit, and very likely to get stolen. At least now you'd be the first person to not lose a shitload of money if anything ever happened to it.

LS mesh look great on an EK Civic. I have a powder-coated set on my 2000 sedan.

Yeah, I'm hoping that doesn't happen. I think vehicle theft risk is very low where I live and work and I garage it at night. I figure if I keep it not flashy, there'll be lower risk.

I'm happy with how they look with some black spray paint, once I kick this ear infection/cold I'm gonna get back to working on the car. I'm going to do what @eg6sir did with his wheels back in the day.
