I am planning on getting a header with a 2.5 collector and was wondering if the stock cat can be modified by a muffler shop or would I just have to run a custom test pipe? Also is the 2 door integra cat different from the 4 door?

you can get the stock cat modified ... but it would be a much better idea to upgrade to something highflow .... carsound cats can be had for around $75 or so

ebay cats are just as good but wont last as long (wont pass emmissions after the 1st time). But for the price they're worth it. 2 dr and 4 dr tegs use the same cats.

if your not concerned with emissions just run a test pipe, cheap and best flow

Thanks for the info. I wish there were no emissions here (NJ). I used to have a 92 civic sedan and I swear the dmv spot checks would follow me around. I've had my car inspected with mirrors to look for a cat a few times. With that said, I'll be running a cat.

E_SolSi: I looked into carsound but I only found universals. Any ideas as to which model I should use?

Also anyone ever hear of catco brand converters? As far as ebay, all I ever see are the test pipes or resonators. I'd prefer to run a "real" cat. Thanks again everyone for the help.

catco is pretty good from what ive heard

basicly just measure your stock cat and get the closest length you can find with a 2.5 through size

then bring it to a muffler shop and get it put on (i recomend having them put flanges on instead of just welding it in place)

I would go with a Random Technology cat! 50 state legal and a better design for higher flow. No screens, large honeycombs!

thats what im running :)

Thanks everybody for the input. I'm going to get a high flow unit and I'll do some more research with the manufacturers. By the way, it is a gsr.
One last header question. Is getting a stainless steel header worth the extra cash over mild steel or ceramic? If i do get it in ss should I wrap it or use the heat resistant jackets?

for me stainless is imperative as I live in a high rust state and dont want to buy a new catback every 2 years

I have a random tech, its awesome, except the last owner some how got a obdII cat put on so I have a hole in the side and it leaks. :(

I passed emissions though with it, withy flying colors might I add.

someone makes plugs for those holes.......midas might have em
