im wanting to put a B20 block/b18a or b head, w a used turbo system into a 5th gen hatch. now.......here is my dillema, will this b the cheapest best horsepower deal(wanting turbo), 2nd will all turbos bolt to the exhaust manifold (example, 16g turbo off eclipse, or other junkyard dogs) and 3rd what ecu, tranny, wiring harness will i need? please help any info would b great

Hey, welcome to the board. To answer your question, if you want to put a b-series head w/ vtec on your motor, you will have to sacrifice some compression in order to run a turbo. this will cut down on your power when you aren't in the turbo's powerband. If you purchased a junkyard turbo, such as one off an eclipse, you'll want to have it inspected and possibly rebuilt. As long as you are willing to pay for a little machine/fabrication work, you should be able to make almost any turbo work...except for the turbos off of the new evo's and SRT-4's. the evo's spins a different direction, making the setup too complex to mess with, and the SRT-4's is just stupid b/c of the design. if you are just going to run low (4-6lbs) boost, a remapped ecu or a plug and play design will do fine. If you are looking for higher boost apps, you'll need programmable and tunable engine management. you'll also need to upgrade a lot of your internals to handle the stress of boost.

well i want a non vtec head...less compression, also w pistons rods and sleeved.....anyone have ne idea were to get a cheap custome manifold for this project?

Well not to dog you but eclipse/talons came with either a 14b(1st gen) or a t25(2nd gen). They never came with a 16g stock. If you can find a good 16g for cheap good luck. They start at $600 and up for a big16g, and for a big16g ported and clipped. Then you are looking at about $850-$900. You can find turbo manifolds all over for B-Series. Try using www.google.com It works for me!

true, but both surely both have the same bolt pattern for them to bolt to the header, so i could start out w/a 14b, buy a t25 when i get the dough(yes as a past gsx owner i shouldve remembered that, my mistake)

The T25 sucks my balls, dude. The 14B is a much better turbo, at least stock for stock. Sure, the T25 spools slightly faster, but the 14B can take much more abuse and will boost more than the lil' Garrett before crapping on you.

u got me again w the eclipse facts, i guess i need to figure out which turbo will bolt directly to the 16g...i believe it is the 14b so ill have to start lookin for a manifold that will fit both

thanks

Yes I did get you again bro! It is all good though. Yes the Tdo4h 14B and the Td05h 16G are swappable on the same manifold!

your best bet would be to find a greddy b-series manifold, and someones used 18g from the kit. the 14g is tiny. you'll be much happier with the 18g. And you can most likely get those two parts cheap.

for your head issue- just run the b20 head. its 98% the same thing as the ls head. pick up a long block.

but then you talk about sleeving....

for a dinky turbo, its realy unnecessary.

main reason is, have a friend (big mustang guy) has 4.6 stang.....put 2g's into motor.... 245hp, 275tq. not that impressive, and he thinks n/a is the baddest thing to have. so i want to smoke his ass nonvtec/turbo. u guys think this'll do it...ill try to post some vids in a couple of days. his pull on a 328i bmw is fukn weak.

all info would b appreciated

His 245 at the wheels will womp down on anything you can build in a honda for 2g's dude. Plus, it'll be 100x more reliable than a 250 WHP D series.

he won't need 250whp to beat the mustang. Your forgetting that his little honda doesn't wiegh as much as that mustang.

ok, but what about pistons, rings, rods, crank? hondas arent that boost friendly, correct

crank is fine.

I was thinking the samething, why even spend the money on the b20 block when you can just pick up an ls long block for the same price, if not less?

and no you won't need 245 whp to beat the mustang seeing as how your car will weigh probably half as much as his does. my brother's b20z/vtec si took out a gt mustang that had intake, exhaust, pullies, and some kind of chip? anyway my brothers car only puts out 184whp against a mustang that I'm assuming was putting out around the same amount of hp to the wheels (245). so power/weight ratio is not really a friend of the mustang, but it is to you.

Damn Honda people are idiotic... I give up trying to teach you arrogant fucks.

ok... as far as a t-25/14B.. id say go for the 14B.... its a bigger turbo. and is capable of supporting higher boost.. it should work well with a 1.8L as far as "bolting on" to a stock B series manafold... nuh uh....check out http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html for turbo manny stuff... id say biuld your own... it'll be cheaper and fun.... and to keep up with that mustang.... i would think that about 200whp for you will more than make him look stupid.. anyway.. check out www.homemadeturbo.com they have answers to pretty much any question you'll ever ask in the FAQ there.. oh and dont think its as easy as bolting shit on your motor and going.... dont forget about fuel management ( ie a FMU.. AFC hack....programmable ecu...)... unless you want a toasted motor....
