i was told that i can not bore out the block to my B16a1 from a 1.6 to a 1.8 which it would be bored .020. is this true or can it be done? please let me know asap.
 
Boring your b16 .020 will make it 81.5mm (stock is 81mm). If your rebuilding your motor it's a good idea to do this to make sure the cylinders are round. You will need to get .020 oversize pistons also. If your planning to boost on the stock sleeves do not bore it out more than 81.5mm.
 
To answer your question you would need to bore the engine out 3mm (from 81mm to 84mm) to make ~1.8L. I don't think that the stock sleeves can take that much overbore.
 
84mm on b16 is 1.7L, the other 100cc has to be stroked.
 
Normally 81.5 mm is the largest oversize piston i have seen for the b16a2. I have a set of New SRP pistons 81.5 mm

I don't see why not, the B16 has very little side-loading.

B20 has much worse side loading and 84mm bore. (but lets not get into the b20 may have different sleeves again ;) )

uhh... 2.0L the head has no effect in the displacement of a motor. its only bore and stroke.
 
any one know a good site to get 82 mm honda pistons like p30 or pr3's ...( 40 over)
 
b20 with ITR crank 1930cc
b20 with B16 crank 17... cc(good RS ratio for boost)
b20 with b17 crank 17.. cc(best RS ratio for boost)

I have never seen any evideance of this, where did you get this information?

Again, all the stock sleeves are cast iron push ins. They are all open deck. The outer rings are all alluminum.

How is the design different, other than the sleeves are cast that way or opened up to that much?

Either way it shouldn't matter, as the material is the same, and the thickness is the same.

Uhhh, I don't think honda made a .040in oversized piston, because the maximum allowable overbore on a honda's stock sleeves is .020in over, as per the factory (helms). So go with some aftermarket pistons.

for some reason i thought the B20 had different sleeves. so you can bore out any B block to 84mm on stock sleeves and it will be just like the sleeves in the B20??
