I have full coverage insurance on my car and I've been thinking that all this time Ive gave them money every month incase shi@ happens and nothing ever did. Now I have a blown head gasket and Im afraid of screwing crap up by doing it myself but if I take it some where its 600-800 bucks to fix. Is there anyway I could get my insurance company to cover it? I have Progressive.

lol, insurance companies don't work like that.
man if they did we'd all be breakin shit daily and gettin it fixed.

Automobile Insurance companies only cover physical damage to your car, caused by an accident, a tree limb breaking your windshield etc.....

It does NOT cover any kind of mechanical work like your talking about.

What your talking about is sometimes covered by automobile warranties

only in your dreams..... well have someone steal it... bust out a window and drive it till it breaks and leave it and call it in stolen....... but you can in deep shit for it and i would never do it

I had friends that had comprehensive insurance, they went last yr to the Houston drag races here from dallas and got caught in the floods. The car did not flood but the engine did. The insurance paid up for that. As for head gasket don't think your comprehensive would cover that, but read your policy, it might.

i highly doubt that it will. like CRX-YEM said "Automobile Insurance companies only cover physical damage to your car, caused by an accident, a tree limb breaking your windshield etc....."

sometimes comprehinsive covers other stuff like an engine fire my friend had an old rustang and he did a tune up himeself and the moroun put the fuel filter in backwards or didnt' tighten it all the way but to make a long story short he was driveing down the road and his engine cought on fire and they paid for all that i think he had state farm for insurace though

shit! thats scary (last post).

i had a friend who blew a rod in his stang on the way to the beach, so after getting it to a friend's auto shop, he threw some sand in the engine and told his insurance co. that when he got back to his parked car, the hood was slightly up, and there was sand in the engine compartment. they gave him a check for like 3grand!! he built that motor up good!!!
