i was talking with brian (pissedoffsol) today and he was saying a few members had asked what i've been up to lately..etc. well...since i've sold the ITR civic hatchback i've been working on another project which has turned out pretty well.

i purchased an 89 dodge colt gt with 100k miles on it and a 2.0L (4g63) swap. if anyone is familiar with these cars they'll remember that they came with a 1.6L version of the 4g63 called the 4g61 equipped with a small turbo and about 140whp. these cars also came with OEM front/rear disc brakes, a tighter steering rack (compared to stock colt gt/mitsu mirages), larger front sway bar and an OEM lip kit.

when i purchased mine, it was almost 100% stock besides the 2.0 motor swap which bolts right in...2.5inch downpipe, 3inch exhaust and manual boost controller. since then...i've spent the last year of my life spending every dollar i make (well not quite...but it feels like it sometimes) on the car.

as the car sits right now...its probably in the 280-290whp /300-310ft/tq range. here is a list of mods that i've done so far...and a few pics as well.

i've removed the heater core, ac...etc...and it should trap in the 112-114mph range as it sits. i've also ordered an alcohol injection kit which should give me another 30whp which should put the car in the 118-120mph range. however, i haven't run the car so take these figures lightly.

hey chet!! ive been posting on 4g61t forums as red91colt...

i LOVE this CSM.... unfortunately... my 4g coupe is still my first love. :)

i would love a colty gt, though...

just thought i'd mention to everyone...i'm still playing around with hondas and currently a friend and i are building a d-series turbo crx. we have forged rods/pistons/ge block guard/comp cam, t3/t4 turbo, tubular exhaust manifold and a few other go-fast parts for it. we're looking to run 18-20psi until it cracks a sleeve...then hopefully get the block sleeved and make 400whp.

as it sits it should make around 280-300 in a completely gutted car.

i'll take some pictures and add them to the gallery here...as i know a turbo crx is more in line with what you guys are interested in.

hey chet, i see you had the IM extrude honed- What is your opinion of the process? Lemme see some pics if you have em

extrude honing is nice w/ mitsu manifolds because the casting's are quite a bit rougher compared to honda manifolds.

for 200.00 spent (on the entire manifold...used) i think it was worth the time/effort/money to switch everything over. from what i can feel (without taking the car to a dyno) the car gained 5-10whp over certain parts of the rpm band which is consistent with what buschurracing advertises in their list of upgrades. i knew...going with the turbo i have now and my horsepower goals that i'd have to get as much flow as possible out of this setup. the best part about these motors is the torque...which is made at around 5000rpm and is usually equal to the 6k horsepower numbers. in my case, i'm guessing the car makes close to 290ft/lb torque which is a lot of fun and makes the car very driveable.

for a honda manifold, i wouldn't worry at all about extrude honing. honda intake manifolds and heads flow so well from the factory that it really isn't a concern.
