i swaped a ls into my dx and it has a built bottom end and complete head job. But my question is should i put the stock tranny on it or try to find a gsr tranny..? What is the differences in the two..? How will it help and how will it hurt me..?

Stock transmission won't work- D series transmissions won't bolt onto a B series engine.

The LS transmission has really long gears and a taller final drive. It'll work in a pinch, but it sucks.

The GSR transmission is set up more for performance- tighter gearing, better spaced gear ratios, and a shorter final drive. It's not nearly as short as a B16 or ITR transmission, but it's a good bit better for acceleration compared to the LS transmission. This should be your choice (along with a good LSD) for a turbo setup.

thanks fo rthe input and i was refering to the stock ls tranny. I know about the d not mounting to the b series. i am reading a lot of the informative info on here....

GSR tranny with an LSD

Ok. Go with the GSR transmission if you can get it. The LS transmission is still good enough to get your car into 13s or even 12s on a stock block with the right turbo setup.

fuck the LS trans, I fell out of boost all the time after I upgraded to the t3/t4. Plus breaking the speed limit after 1 second in 3rd gear sucks too.

Don't the longer gear ratios in the LS tranny let the turbo spool up better?

the long gears accelorate slower, b16 accel faster,
which one do you think will be quicker with a turbo?? obviousley the one that accels faster, so b16, ls are slow pieces of shit,

the only thing ls integras have going for them are 1.8 liters,
the only thing 99 00 si civics have going for them are the tranny

Exactly.

How is something that keeps your motor from spinning faster, going to help something that spins off you motors speed work better? It defies logic.

yep...

There could only be a FEW advantages to it.

Gas mileage - if you build a 300 hp car and are worried about your MPG, you shouldn't have modded your car

Top speed - I wouldn't dare try to touch the top speed of an LS trans, it's like 175. At least not in a Civic or Integra.

It's pricetag - the only reason I ended up getting one

That's actually all I can think of.
