Like the title says. How did you guys find your jobs? Im more interested in tech jobs but Id like to here how everyone found there jobs. Did you use an online source, news papers, pound the pavement?

On a side note, what was everyones first job, worst job ect. Just for shits and giggles.

Bk. Minimum. 7.35. I was there for 2.5 years. My buddy got a job there so I applied and got one a day later.

I'm still at my first job, but I'm only 19. I started at the pool at my high school when I was 15. Lifeguard/swimming lessons teacher. I started at $8.74 and now I'm at $10.25. When I graduate from college, my school will place me, and I'l be making something like 50k-60k/year at my entry level.

monster.com is a good place to go. At one time i got 4 interviews in week just from there. I found my job though the employers website.

It's always about who you know..
unless you are the one who starts the chain.

still at my first job, 7 an hour plus tips, valet, super easy, drive some tight cars, I think the highlight being a gallardo. I think I did actually find the ad at monster.com

found mine on monster.
dice.com is also a good place to look for techie jobs.
career builder is usually the same jobs as monster ads, only less...

got mine throught a friend who now works for one of bob kraft's companies.

:werd:
let people around you know you are looking for a job...

my mom actually met the office manager at my present job in the nail salon, they chatted it up, i got an internship and then a job offer before i went back to college for my senior year...

and drake, if you went to a school then i would advise you to check into their services
just about every school either has a placement program or at least a career services office which will prove very useful in finding a job...

Dice.com. I also work with consulting agencies as listed:

Best:
K-Force
Alden Staffing
High Tech (CT)

Worst:
Tek System (Where I am now)
Corporate Network Services
Robert Half

Ok:
Hipp Waters (NYC)
some independents as well. If you need CT names.

I found K-force to be EXTREMELY annoying when i was working with them a few years ago. they were very pushy, kept trying to put me in crap i repeatedly told them i didn't want to do....

i dunno, maybe it was just my rep...

I got a phone call asking if I wanted the job.

I worked here before for the old owner, he closed down Labor day in 04. New people bought it and reopened in June of 05. They called me to ask me to come back and run the parts counter....so here I sit

1st job: dishwasher at a local resturant (I was 14, my mom was friends w/the owner)

Worst: Driving a tow truck that did AAA calls...fuckin brutal

I am a financial advisor and as part of the job of being a manager i have to recruit. my company spends over $5500 a year in online website fees alone.....

I spend 5-10 hours a week reviewing resumes. Monster has the best process by far. it is reviewed by more employers and has more job offerings. but don't try to search for a job. Posting job listings cost extra. most companies pay to be able to search resumes not post job listings.

so.....post your resume online, at least on monster.com, and have a good resume ready and be ready to work...

Sweet thanks for all of the advice guys. Ive got a monster account I just need to re write my resume. Im going to ITT at the moment and am getting to the point where they really want to help us find good degree related jobs. Im gonna check out dice.com as well. Thanks agian guys.

Got my current job at VeriSign through my old boss who used to work here. He saw the last job I worked at going under so he put in a good word for me here. Networking at its finest. :)

My first job was bussing tables at Red Robin when I was 16. I was making $4.25 an hour + what ever scraps the waiters would give us bussers as tips. lol

you just don't understand how important your resume headline is....make sure it's good because it is the first thing employers see and then they look at your resume.
