I just got out of work....1st night back on the job since Feb 20th....

Anyways, they took the internet away from everyone, no smoking, no cell phones, have to wear safety glasses everywhere, no wearing or posting anything "STRIKE" related, and apafe full of old rules that everyone forgot about...you break a rule, you're fired.

My job is safe, I'm not part of the outsourced, half of our commercial helicopters were, but the S-92 stays for now, so that gives me a job for a few more years, and if they become succesful, then we golden. I talked to my boss this morning, and after the strike crap cools down, and there are a few more helicopters in the hanger, then I'll get a raise. Since the wife has her drivers licence, I can now go on the road trips...there is a 2 week trip to Norway to fix a mod, on the 17th of april, and the 24th or so theres two road trips to Texas for 2 weeks each, and my bose is going to whore us out for roads trips as much as we can. Now I'm on the list to go somewhere. And if I don't go, then the OT that those guys get, will be averaged and matched by the company and compensated to the rest of the crews.

I'm still broke, the vacation pay, sick pay, and ratification bonus won't get payed to me till next thursday...but I will say this....2 weeks vac pay, one week sick pay, and a $3000 ratification bonus...$4500 if I put in the 401Ks...and one day of work....so I'll see a paycheck again...and it will be nice. More bills to catch up on, and it will be dwindled down, but I'm also going to look and try to find a decent truck to buy....so I can get back to work on the house and yard. Plus I got to do something with two of the cars that are still just sitting there collecting bird droppings......sorry...rambling again...hehe

im beginning to hate my job, like hate with a passion.

i used to like working here, until i got this 'promotion'... i used to like coming to work and didnt look at the clock wanting to go home... now i do.

fuck.
 
yeah im at work right now, but later ill be drinking my face off with some old high school friends :)

did you already do your IRA contribution for 2005?
you have till april 18th to set it up
you already filed your tax return so you would need to do an ammended return to show the IRA contribution...

i have to wonder if it was really worth it
was the union acting in the best interest of the workers?
i understand corp greed etc.. and it really makes me sick and i can see the point to taking a hard line with the corp... but to put EVERYONE's job security in danger, anyone can be fired for practically anything depending on how they interpret the rules...

but i;m glad you're back to work
how does it feel?
 
i should start an IT workers union.

demad $5 healthcare
30" widescreen monitors
sharper image recliner/massager chairs
free coffee

and then go on strike when even more IT jobs go to india.


I hate unions.

I already filed the taxes.

And I'll prolly take the lump sum of $3000 instead of investing it...I know I should invest it, I want to invest it....but IF I dump some of that money into windows for the house, and some other work around the house...it might save me some more money in the long run for heating expenses. Plus my back yard is a mess...it will need to get plowed, dug up, some crap buried, and re-seeded for a decent lawn. Plus I need a truck still. And a few parts to get the CRX back on the road. Get mobile again, and try to improve the house so when I do sell it...it will be worth something.
