will the f22b1 from a 95' ex sedan, the sohc vtec, fit into my car without any trouble? will my manual tranny mount up? and is there anything else i have 2 worry about?

The tranny will mount up, you'll just need a VTEC ECU (I forgot the code for it) and you'll need to wire VTEC. You may have a small mount issue, but it seems unlikely. That's about it. Oh, the header on the B1 probably won't bolt directly to your exhaust....that'll need to be modified by an exhaust shop or something.

You're not doing this for any performance gain, right? Just replacing a blown motor or something?

He also didn't say which car he has. I've done that swap into a 92 Accord. The bolt up is easy. It's all the little bullshit that makes it a pain in the ass. It's not worth it at all, IMO.

Well, he said he's got an F22A1 in his car right now - didn't that primarily come in 90-93 Accords?

its a '90 accord lx coupe...stock motor was the f22a1, which is now dead. im tight on money and gettin kicked outta the dorms for xmas break on the 11th. i cant b home without a ride. nobody on St. Croix has a F22a1 to sell me, all of them are running fine apparently...mines isnt due to a fucked oil sensor. a guy totaled his 5thgen and will give me the engine, for $400 minus the accessory pulleys and distributor. do i need the same ecu for the 5thgen it came out of or will any vtec ecu work. and what about the OBD conversion. my cars 0, the 5thgen is like 1 probably. what all do i need in terms of that?

Also the 5th gens came as obd 1 and 2. The 94 95 are obd 1 and 96 97 are obd 2.

so all the mounts line up fine? and all what little bullshit makes it a pain in the ass?

If you get the driver's mount from the donor car with the motor, that part might be ok. Oddly, the F22B1 didn't bolt up there for me since I didn't get that motor mount with the swap. However, the H22 was a direct bolt up. Just stick with the F22A if you are going to stay F22. Also, the exhaust is different, you have to wire VTEC and IAB, and change the ECU. The oxygen sensor is in a different location, etc. That's a lot of hassle for ten ponies. Plus the throttle linkage was different. A lot of my hassles were because I got a good motor missing some small parts, and the F22A stuff would not flop over. The brackets for alternator, PS pump, and AC were different. If you got the ECU, the motor with all mounts, a full wiring harness, and the exhaust to the cat, it wouldn't be as bad.

It would honestly be easier to use an H23 or H22, rather than a F22B1.
