How many times do we have to go over this? This is the opinion of one Muslim. When are you two going to stop trying to use a small, statistically insignificant, sample to make conclusions about a multi-billion person group?

The Qur'an says nothing about masturbation. The opinions of Islamic scholars vary from it is completely forbidden, to not recommended, to no opinion. Those that tend to make the biggest deal about it are very conservative Sunni or Wahabi. I have not read this person, though a quick Google search turned up his Eulogy for Saddam Hussein which leads me to believe that if he isn't Wahabi, he is very conservative Sunni.

The closest I can come to a consensus on masturbation is in line with kylph's post, the act it not forbidden, however thinking about things that are during masturbation is.

Even if every Muslim that has been involved in fighting the United States thought this way it would still be statistically insignificant. The best you could draw from that is correlation.

yup, he used to deliver parts as a civilian contractor when I worked in the Air Force. Another was an Electrician who worked with me, and a third I served Security Forces duty with

All three were in favor of the war and were moderate Muslims

all three were Americans (coincidence?)

get off your high horse, you're not the subject matter expert on Islam
 
And another thing I keep asking and you keep avoiding it, where is this Muslim culture you talk about? There isn't one.
 
One time I saw a muslim at the Country Buffet, he had like six wives with him in burkas. He was really dark skinned, and had this huge tumor on his forehead. My GF was like "OMG a muslim klingon!"
He glared at us the whole meal. I was scared he was gonna go jihad on me every time I went back to fill my plate.

So then why do you make these kind of statements lumping Muslims into a non-existent culture? You have your counter examples right in front of you.

I never claimed to be the subject matter expert on Islam, only to know more than you and Celerity and I think that has been demonstrated.

I also had an Airmen who's GF had a bunch of Muslim friends (this was in the UK)

They literally spit on him and told him that President Bush worshipped the devil. These are your *moderate* Muslims who "don't make headlines", the extreme variety saw the heads off of innocent people in the name of God. Even our Muslim allies (Saudi Arabia) are freaking lunatics

you know where the peaceful moderate Muslims are? America, and even some of those hate white people and are racist (black Muslims)

in fact the first example of Peaceful Moderate Islamic culture I can think of existing outside of the United States is in Iraq, and you would have us abandon them to Iran and other extreme cultures...

So your definition of Moderate is "those that think like I do".

I tend to think that moderate means willing to discuss things, debate issues, and not resort to force before attempting to talk about things. The Muslims I know (this is generally true for the non-Muslim Arabs and Iranians too) are happy to talk/debate/argue politics with just about anyone.

I don't know that I ever said the United States should abandon Iraq, however please let me know if I did.

If you are against the war in Iraq you are by default against the Iraqi government because you advocate action that hurts them, don't kid yourself.

My definition of a Moderate Muslim

a Muslim who does not-

Believe that their religion should rule the world

advocate the murder of anyone, for any reason (capitol punishment is however okay)

Thinks it's okay to beat your GF/WIFE/DAUGHTER

Thinks it's alright to kill people because "God wants me to"

Think that any god would reward such ridiculous behaviour

"But I'm willing to debate this with you" does not qualify as morderation, I can debate that aligators are mad because they have all them teeth and no toothbrush, but I would be wrong. And if youre that level of wrong on an issue it isn't manditory that ANYONE respects or tolerates my opinion
 
So here's the thing, being "against the war in Iraq" is kinda pointless now. Now we must concentrate on how to fix what is broken so that the Iraqi's can have some semblance of self governance. I was against the war before it happened now I am for finding a real solution. Like I said earlier, I don't remember ever saying that I wanted to abandon the Iraqi government but if you can show me a post to the contrary I will retract that statement.
 
Just a little tag, all but one of the Muslims I know here fit your classification of "moderate" and most of them were against the war before it started.
 
My friend is a muslim, has a history of beating women, had to go to Albania to shop for a woman (Literally, pointed at her and the family gave her over). She's allowed out of the house, but only with family. Her friends are approved by him (Which hasn't happened yet) and he hates america, yet takes advantage of the prescription coverage to fake aches to get oxycodone and sell it on the streets for more money for rims.

I know lots of muslims. I live in Little Albania. Naugatuck Valley, CT = San Bernadino CA | Albanians = Mexicans. That's how it works.

I have developed my opinions with finesse and intelligence, based on countless (And in a few cases 100% precision like my opinions on Italians) experiences and observations.

Now, when we talk about some of the contrasts here of Islam and... (Insert your major religion here)(We really know you're talking about Christian faiths) I would like to point out a few things:

Ayatollah = Pope. When the Ayatollah says things .. like "Americans are evolved from pigs" and "Women are to be kept indoors" it's the same as the Pope saying it. However, to date, I don't recall the pope saying anything even CLOSE to as stupid as this in the past 1800 years.

Muslim Zealots = Jerry Falwell. Jerry jerry jerry. Pat pat pat. Oh you kooky guys. Apparently you are the equal and balanced counter-argument to the faceless MILLIONS of Muslim Zealots. Whenever video evidence of Muslim atrocities are presented, your names are brought up in defense of what they have to say. The people don't realise that while Pat and Jerry ARE mostly out of their minds, the Muslim Zealots number in the countless millions. You can go out and find a million different assholes saying a million things about Islam and yet you two are the only ones that make Christianity look bad. And somehow, you two manage to do it so good that those millions of Muslim Zealots are actually GLORIFIED when compared to you.

Boy, as usual you are so far off.

Lets start with definitions, Ayatollah is primarily used by Iranians to refer to religious scholars (note the plural). So an Ayatollah is not equivalent to Pope as there can be only one Pope however anyone that is very knowledgeable about Islamic Jurisprudence can be an Ayatollah. The term is used mostly by Shi'a.

Next onto the dislike for America. Look back at Iran's government starting in the early 1900's. Reza Pahlavi (Reza Shah, the first in the Pahlavi Dynasty) started to modernize Iran by bringing in industry and encouraging the growth of the middle class. He was removed from power by The British and the USSR because we wanted Iran to remain neutral in WWII. After WWII his son Mohammad Reza claims his fathers throne but flees the country when an opposition party is elected into power and nationalizes Iran's oil. Here is the important bit, The Democratically elected government is removed by the CIA and British intelligence (see Operation Ajax) and Mohammad Reza is returned to power where he used the Iranian Secret Police to suppress his opponents. The Iranians don't trust the US when it comes to their government because they have very recent reasons not to.

Now let's talk about your opinions creditability. Why should anyone think that you are capable of forming opinions with, as you say, "finesse and intelligence" when you are so often (see this) wrong.

What have I been saying this entire time??? What you see here is a cultural addition, not Islam. This is not called acceptable behavior in the Qur'an and therefore is not Islam. Or have you not understood this point yet?
