interesting looking bike.... ill have to check that one out in person before making a full judgement

If you like the SV650, but need something with lowers and a mid, check out the Hyosung GT650. Same exact motor (Hyosung makes the motor for Suzuki) and it's in a body that looks just like a Bimota.

It's also got a bitchin gauge cluster. And it's cheap as hell.

Not the same motor, Hyosung has made motors in the past for Suzuki but they were scooter motors, no doubt the SV motor and the Hyosung motor seem close, but they're no doubt not the same.

The Hyosung is a great bike if you can find one used for cheap, if not, go with the SV, only about a $1000 difference between the two if both are new. I'd pay the extra money if it meant having 5 Suzuki dealerships per state rather then a handful of dealerships in the country for the Hyosung.

Oh, and E: I'm repairing my plastics, getting new levers and selling my 1200.

It's too goddam much. It'll be ready for next season if you're interested.

You listed that you don't want a zx6-r because it's "ugly as hell"

I'll just assume you're talking about the 07, in which case that's forgiveable :). But, the 07 is a 600, and the 05-06 zx-6r 636 is beautiful. I'll give you that the 07 is ugly as hell, but even the 03-04 look hot, IMO. Of course I have an 04 zx-6r, so I may be biased, but I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't think it was sexy as hell.

Not to mention the 636 is the fastest of the 600s from it's year model.

And I actually think that the overall style of the 07zx6r is sexy, unfortunately the most prominent thing that people notice right away is the headlight/front air dam, which absolutely KILLS the bike. So overall I think it's ugly as hell, but in reality I see that all it needs to be pretty again is a simple headlight redesign. Kawi, why did you kill the styling of the entire supersport line?! oh it kills me, hopefully the 08s will move back in time.

Yamaha R6S - nice looks, comfort is pretty good for me... possible

I've done alot of research on these and it's my bike of choice as of right now . . . the only worry is that it has a completely different engine than the R6 and i'm wondering if future costs might be higher because it is a production bike that is rare or of limited production.

They've made a YZF for awhile now. in fact I think they've always made a standard YZF and added the R sometime in the late 90s earily 2000s. IMO the R6s is nothing but a better name for the non YZF. Add an R to make it cool then add an S to make it not as race like.

Guessing it uses the same motor, or an updated ver of it.

Either way, bike motors, or bike anything for that matter = $$$$ no matter what you have.

This thread is now a few weeks old, but I'll add my .02. The 03-05 R6 is a better piece of machinery in comparison to the new R6s model in terms of equipment, and it shares the same body panels. If you are looking to score that model R6, I'd look into the 2005 model, as it came with an inverted fork and brembo radial brake cylinder. I'm not sure of what the engine output on the r6s model is, but the 2005 R6 I had was plenty of power.

I've also been looking into supermotos lately. I'm leaning towards the husky 610sm. The looks are great, the thumper sound is great (better than the buell blast I borrow from my roommate, lol), 600cc and a 6 speed transmission are a great asset to highway riding, and the maintenance on the 610 is a bit better than the more track-oriented bikes out there. It does suffer about a 50lb penalty over the 510sm, but like I said, it's better suited for street riding and highway trips from what I have read up on the Supermoto Junkies board. The suzuki sm just seems too small for me in terms of taking it on the highway. But in the end, it boils down to what you want to use it for. Oh yeah, I also like the fact that insurance companies don't have a clue what to really classify the supermoto as - street or dirt, hmmm.... - that, coupled with the fact that they are nt NEARLY as popular and stolen as frequently as sportbikes, expect to see insurance that is dirt cheap.

so far i am leaning more towards a supermoto... all of the supersports have been pretty much removed from the list
i haven't really looked at the husky's too much.. saw them on display at a supermoto race i went to.. they do look nice
ill have to check into them more and see if there are even any dealers around me

Oh yeah, I got to check out the R6S side by side with the 07 R6 this weekend.

Meh. Move along, nothing to see here. I also checked out the Hyosung 250 and 650R (Under it's native "UM" name) and it's a fuckin boat anchor.
