Hi guys, Names Michael. I have a 1985 Prelude 2.0 Si. This fall I plan to fix it up into an acceptable ride. Im thinking a b16 Skunk2 intake along with high flow injectors and fuel rail. Along with valve job Stage 2 cam regrind from colt cams. Debating wether or not to send in the crank to paeco to have it lightened and knife edged. I have a Second A20A3 in the garage that is gonna be the block for all this money wasting. Liking the idea of a Si tranny with teggy gears. I am 18 by the way, and my dad is an experianced mechanic, so I am not going this alone. any input is welcome!
also shaving the head and block to raise compression ratio. looking for about 10.5:1 and forged pistons no boost in the plans yet, and I am aware that this engine isnt the most desirable to be modding, but that is part of why I like this car some much. full coilovers from skunk2. and matte black paint with illegal tint lol. Um...will a Skunk2 B16 intake mani fit on an A20? If so, that's news to me. Also, I would recommend AGAINST the knife-edging. That seriously cuts down on the longevity of the crank. Unless it's a full-out race engine that's going to be rebuilt frequently, knife-edging is not something I'd want.
Also, what transmission do you plan on using here? If you're talking about a Civic Si gearbox, then you're very confused... 1.) A Civic Si transmission will NOT bolt up to your A20 engine. 2.) The Si trannies generally have shorter gearing then the Integra ones (except for the Type R), so I don't know why you'd want to switch the gears out. You need to do a shit ton of reading before you even begin to rip into your car... __________________

and i was only debating the knife edgeing thank you for the info about it though. the tranny I am talking about isnt a civic si tranny, it is a same year prelude transmission 5spd manual, I have read on 3geez about taking the gears out of the Prelude Si tranny and putting in the better ratio of the integra gears. I dont know everything about its yet though. I will try to find the write up on it though Last edited by MIK99; 08-14-2008 at 09:42 PM. |

I'm aware of that. Did you not see the "except for the Type R" caveat?

nah man, thanks for putting 'em up for me, i couldnt figure out how to do it
![]() in the videos above, the car is an automatic, but I have found I can control the shift points pretty well by keeping it in D2 until I want third and so on, I know it isnt very good for the tranny, but I have two of them, so I am not too worried about it. I use my as winter tires now. I think they are nicer than most other "stock" rims that came on the cars.
$150 is a really good deal. Good find. |

thanks, i have had it for about 3 years now. I replaced the fuel pump and had it inspected, and it passed emmisions with flying colors, lol. drove it for about 7 months and it spun a main bearing, so my dad and I went to a pickanpull in irving and found an 88 accord with a really low miles A20A3 in it. paid 200 bucks for the new engine, halve shafts and tranny. gotta love half price days at junk yards.

Pick-n-Pulls are the shit... I used to go to those places just to see what kind of stuff they had. Not many places let you walk around their yards anymore and just take what you want/need off the cars.
