A friend of mine that tunes said something about the check engine light jack and locking it on so the ecu doesn't reset the timing.... thats what i'm wondering about. I have the light and know the stock timing and know how to advance the timing but don't know how to lock the check engine light on...... Does anyone know what he is talking about???

there's a service connector underneath the same panel your ECU is. Jumper it with a paperclip (Or make a connector out of the female connector that the speakers use). That'll "Lock the CEL". Normally it's called "Service mode," but to each his own.
After you jumper the SCS, you'll then use a timing light to set the timing. I can't remember what it should be set to, but 16 deg BTDC sounds about right. |
