I think the spacers may partially be for the huge intake sticking out the back of the hood LMAO.

yep you nailed it...to clear the huge ass intake sticking out the hood. We are all running ls-vtec motors. should have them on the track in less than a month and I'll keep some updates coming. These oughta be bad fast if we can get em' to stick in the corners and beat the understeer famous with fwd.

run a thinner tire in the rear and set some more rear brake bias (even using a stronger pad in the rear) and trail brake a bit.

I'm guessing your suggesting those to help get the rear loose for cornering right? Since I already ordered the tires and they are all the same width, I was going to try a bit higher air pressures in the rear, and take out some of the camber in the right rear. I havent done anything with the brakes yet, but was thinking an adjustable brake bias knob in the cockpit for on the fly adjustment. trail brake same as e- brake? I'll listen to any help for sure in this department, never raqn a fwd on the dirt track. Thanks for the info

Werd, and run higher pressures in the rear tires. That's my setup for autocross, I get TONS of rotation.

trail braking is left foot braking lightly while staying on the gas.

thats just left foot braking

trail braking is the act of staying on the brakes beyond the entrance of a turn gradually releasing them as you dial in more steering, staying just under the traction limits of your tires (delicate balance... too much braking or steering and you are likely going for a ride in either the in or out field)
it allows you to brake later and hold a higher entry speed than old school conventional braking which dictates that you should finish your braking before turning, separately using the maximum traction for slowing, then turning (easier and safer)

thanks for the braking tips. Im sure that will help, I have no doubts about the power to weight or traction in a straight line, just was a bit concerned about gettin it to stick in the corner but it sounds like that will help. I got the decals done last night a few more touches and I'll get the final product pics up. Thanks for all the support.

well here it is done and ready for the races...weighed it today full of fuel and ready to race....1877lbs. was shooting for 1800lbs even but this is close enough.

...as you probably saw in the background...that is my derby crx it was a 89, d15 dpi with a bad set of rings, and a complete bondo rear quarter cost $50....derbying a crx ..priceless. It will be finished off this fathers day derby in Redmond Oregon, if anyone local wants to come cheer it on...lol.

...yeah it still runs, but smokes like a factory. its been in 1 demo derby, and 3 bump to pass races against cars like cadillacs, and lincolns. Notice the driver door...I was t-boned by a cadillac in the last bump to pass race.

The ones around here are rusted to shit. If it doesnt have some bark stuck in it somewhere or som scratches its no trail rig.

a setup tip...run the left front tire almost flat..run slightly more in the left rear, run the most in the right rear and the right front should only be a little more in the right front..
so say..

This thing is sweeeet. I've been watching Mad House on the History Channel, plus this, equals I want to build a modified. But I don't think there are any dirt tracks, or even regular tracks, around here.
