No there's no difference.
Buy an ebay intake. Intake gains are extremely minimal regardless of brand. __________________

$100 more isn't worth 1 or 2 hp. And ebay or homemade intake for 20-30 bucks is definitely the better choice.

you're wasting your money. I don't spread false information. But if you have that extra money to waste, go for it.

Buy whatever intake you can get for less than $50 shipped. Seriously, it's not even worth buying a name brand. Get some dryer ducting and call it a day.
The v2 just has a different sound than the v1. That's all. |

I wouldn't just completely say the V2 intakes are worthless. I remember looking at the dyno charts on AEM's site a year back or so and actually being impressed at how much power they were making. It made something like 6-8 wheel horse (don't remember exactly) on my car, which I thought was pretty damn impressive. And the numbers were even better on some of the newer, more performance-oriented models (RSX, Civic Si, etc.).
So yes, they do actually make power. Whether or not the power they make is worth the almost $400 price tag is what you need to decide. If you're planning on staying N/A and buying some other quality components (a nice header, exhaust, intake mani, etc.) then a V2 might be worth the money. If it's just a holdover until you go turbo or something like that, then yeah, $30 E-Bay intake FTW... __________________

If you're worried about price, just buy some Al tubing, and have an exhaust shop do it for ya. Hell, I'll bet you could even have them do it out of some extremely large exhaust pipe even. Heh. If you want to get The Best, or live in a state/country with strict emissions standards: get something with an expensive sticker on it. The end. |

I doubt you could exactly replicate what they've done with the V2 intakes just by bending up some pipe. They have a velocity chamber type thing on them that's supposedly been researched and optimized for each individual motor to make the most power. And they do actually make power, at least a few wheel horse more than the old AEM ones, and in some cases lots more.
Either way though, I don't really care. I'm not defending them or telling him that's what to get, I'm just telling him what I know. And yeah, $350-$400 is a shit-load of money for an intake, and I don't think I'd pay it myself, but for someone it might be worth it. Like I said, it makes more power on certain motors, so if you were doing a mean N/A build and you wanted top-of-the-line everything, it might be worth it to you... __________________
