how to know if a motor is a type s engien . or a base ??

if its stamped k20a2 or k20z then its a type s if its stamped k20a3 its a non type s. and the type s came with a 6 speed trans

because i got a friend that just bought a 03 or 02 rsx type s and he sayd is kinda slow . and we were thinking since the guy that sold it to him is very good at mechanic and special with honda . it could be that he change the engien

k20a2 do run 12's stock in a hatch because thats what i hit in my k20 hatch i hit a 12.9

rsx's are heavy, and people also underestimate how much power a rsx puts down to the ground, yeah a base is 160 and a type S is 200, but not to the wheels, i think a stock base is only like 125-130 to the wheels, so yeah its gotta do with people not paying attention, odds are, hes not gonna waste the time, to leave a 6speed, and swap it out to a base motor, unless he bought a base and converted it, but either way, looking at the crank hp, your gonna think its alot faster then it really is, i think ive only gotten my base, with basic boltons up to about 125mph, theyre quick, not fast

If you are still checking on this thread, a typeS motor doesn't have the stupid looking black plastic intake manifold, its a normal aluminum one.
thats the easiest way to know.
