We have implemented the following guidelines for using our community forums. This is a guide, not a rulebook. Common sense and a demeanor of friendliness will get you far and make everyone's stay more enjoyable.

1. First and foremost, our staff members will NOT respond to direct request for technical support on their cars. There are only 15 of us and 40,000+ of you. It simply can't be done. Moreover, its what the forums are here for. Asking us a question via e-mail or PM's will not get stored on the boards' searchable database. Thus, no one else will ever benefit from the answer. When posted, however, it is open to the entire community and the internet to search on, read, and learn from. Many people will have similar problems and it could just help someone else at some point in the future. Please understand this. You may, however, contact a staff member using the link in the footer for any issues with accounts, login trouble, etc
2. Under NO circumstances will pornography or ANY other type of questionable materials be allowed to be posted in ANY forum or images uploaded to the gallery. Doing so will result in your immediate banning from the site. Anything Provactive should have a NWS (not work safe) warning on the TITLE of the thread.
3. We require all posts to be positive, constructive, and on topic. We may delete individual posts that could ruin a good topic thread. This again comes down to common sense. We are less strict about this in the "Lounge" forums than we are in the technical forums, as its a different atmosphere.
4. The staff will remove any topic or posts we deem inappropriate or disruptive to our community. Think before you post
5. We like to have fun. It's an open community and having fun is always a good part of any group. In general, the technical forums will be boring, and strict to the topic. But, we also have the lounge, local forums, and multimedia areas where things can be more laid-back. Whatever the case, please keep it positive and polite. We do not censor opinions or ideas on our forums but we do take action against posts and/or topics that could cause unrest in the community beyond a civil and polite disagreement.
6. Racial comments, slurs, sexists remarks and so forth will NOT be tolerated
7. Personal attacks will NOT be tolerated
8. Please try to limit the use of slang and profanity. Again, we aren't very strict on this, but it makes you look more intelligent when you post in an intelligent manner.
9. tYp1nG 1N |n742n3t sp33k is retarded and will not be tolerated. "Wut" "dat" and "u" are not words. All it does is make us NOT want to help you with your problem or question.
10. Advertisements by non-vendors are not allowed. We have rate plans starting at just $10, so why not support us and earn a good rep for your business at the same time that you make some money off the membership. More information can be found in our Advertising Media Kit
11. We reserve the right to ban any member who violates our guidelines or disrupts our community. We will be fair and provide warning in most cases, but in some cases, an automatic ban will take place. Spamming, posting porn, etc are a couple of these.
12. If you have a problem with another member, contact a staff member about it. Don't take it into your own hands.
13. Warez, mp3's and other illegal downloadable materials may NOT be posted on the site, even in link format. It is illegal, and we will not harvest this.
14. Signatures may not contain images. We voted long ago, and avatars won. Put your personal image there if you wish.
15. Violation of any of these rules will result in consequences determined on a case-by-case basis. If you use some basic common sense, you will have a nice, long, learning experience here at Hondaswap.com
16. Name Changes. Simply put, there are none. If you want a different name, re-register for a new account.
17. PM'ing the Staff for tech help is NOT appropriate. The staff is here to help run the board- and will answer any tech post they wish to in the regular forums. PM's directed to a staff member are a no-no and will NOT get you a response, unless of course the staff member is bored. If you want direct help, First, Post a new topic in the proper forum, Then, Link a staff member to that post via a pm, ASKING if they can look at it. The main purpose of this, is that PM's are not viewable by anyone else, nor are saved after a while. Someone else WILL have the same question as you at some point, and if its in a forum, it becomes searchable. It also adds to the board in terms of a broader knowledge base.
18. Signature images are not allowed. They are not disabled, but they will be removed by a moderator. Save us the work, and just don't use [img] tags in your sig.
19. The Gallery is a Free service for active members of the board. Abuse, vulgar images, porn, etc will get you banned. The point of this is to host CAR-related images.
20. Your account may be suspended or banned if you abuse our rules. This is done at the moderator's discretion. 99.98% of our membership doesn't have an issue with our rules. If you're cool, you won't have a problem either. Drama Queens will be dealt with. We don't need any of that here.
21. Provocative Content- Please limit the amount of this on the boards. Out-right porn is 100% not allowed. "bikini pics" and things of the sort are OK once in a while, but the image must be LINKED, not embedded, and proceded with a *WORK WARNING* textual warning both ABOVE AND BELOW the link. 80% of our membership browse the forums while at work, including myself. We aren't trying to get people fired. Use your own judgment, but if you have to think about it, you probably shouldn't post it.
