OIL PRESSURE SWITCH TEST 1. Remove the yellow/red wire from the engine oil pressure switch. 2. Check for continuity between the positive terminal and the engine (ground). There should be continuity with the engine stopped. There should be no continuity with the engine running. 3. If the switch fails to operate, check the engine oil level. If the engine oil level is OK, check the engine oil pressure. OIL PRESSURE TEST If the oil pressure indicator light stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level. If the oil level is correct, continue with test. 1. Connect a tachometer. 2. Remove the engine oil pressure switch, and install an oil pressure gauge. 3. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing. 4. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be: Engine Oil Temperature: 176°F (80°C) Engine Oil Pressure:
5. If oil pressure is NOT within specifications, inspect these items:
ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT Under normal conditions, the oil filter should be replaced at every other oil change. Under severe conditions, the oil filter should be replaced at each oil change. Change interval:
1. Warm up the engine. 2. Remove the drain bolt, and drain the engine oil. 3. Reinstall the drain bolt with a new washer. 4. Refill with the recommended oil. Capacity
5. Run the engine for more than 3 minutes, then check for oil leakage. OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED: Oil Filter Wrench 07912-6110001 1. Remove the oil filter with the special tool. 2. Inspect the threads and rubber seal on the new filter. Wipe off the seat on the engine block, then apply a light coat of new engine oil to the filter rubber seal. Use only filters with a built-in bypass system. 3. Install the oil filter by hand. 4. After the rubber seal seats, tighten oil filter clockwise with the special tool.
5. If eight numbers (1 to 8) are printed around the outside of the filter, use the following procedure to tighten the filter.
6. After installation, fill the engine with oil up to the specified level, run the engine for more than 3 minutes, then check for oil leakage. Click on the link to see the complete article with images check it out here: Honda S2000 2000-2004 AP1: Lubrication System. Garage411.com |
