FYI: It is recommended that you have a reputable automotive service shop handle the wheel alignment process. This may save you time and headaches down the road. Most auto shops may have wheel alignment specials so check with your local shop. FRONT CAMBER Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. If camber is incorrect, check for bent or damaged suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck camber. If camber is still incorrect, hold adjusting bolt on front lower arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting bolt until camber is correct. See Fig. 9 . After adjusting, tighten selflocking nut while holding adjusting bolt. REAR CAMBER Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. If camber is incorrect, check for bent or damaged suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck camber. If camber is still incorrect, hold adjusting bolt on control arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting bolt until camber is correct. See Fig. 10 . After adjusting, tighten self-locking nut while holding adjusting bolt. CASTER ADJUSTMENT If caster needs adjustment, raise and support front of vehicle. Hold flange bolt on rear of lower arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting cam collar until caster is correct. See Fig. 12. After adjusting, tighten selflocking nut while holding flange bolt. RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Before adjusting alignment, check riding height. Riding height must be checked with vehicle on level floor and tires properly inflated. Passenger and luggage compartments must be unloaded. Bounce vehicle several times, and allow suspension to settle. Visually inspect vehicle from front to rear and from side to side for signs of abnormal height. Measure riding height. Riding height between left and right sides of vehicle should vary less than 1" (25.4 mm). If riding height is not within specification, check suspension components and repair or replace them as necessary. TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT On S2000 models, adjust rear toe by moving upper and lower control arms the same amount in opposite directions. Example: upper control arm is moved out, move lower control arm in. 1. Check caster and camber. Adjust if necessary. Secure steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Ensure parking brake is released. Check rear wheel toein. If rear toe-in needs adjustment, hold adjusting bolt on rear lower control arm and loosen lock nut. Adjust rear toe-in by turning adjusting eccentric bolt until toe-in is correct. Install lock nut, and tighten it while holding adjusting bolt. 2. Measure front wheel toe-in. If adjustment is needed, loosen tie rod lock nuts. Turn both tie rods equally in same direction until front wheels are in straightahead position and toe-in reading is correct. Tighten tie rod lock nuts. Reposition tie rod boots if they are twisted. Click on the link to see the complete article with images check it out here: Wheel Alignment - Honda S2000. Garage411.com |
