    spark plugs

ngk or nippon denso first of all, the only plugs that should go in a honda motor are NGK or Nippon Denso, preferably the NGK plugs. Japanese plugs seem to work really well in the jap motors, conversely if you had a general motors vehicle, an AC Delco plug should be used, Motorcraft plugs for...

    what size exhaust is best??

i know it sounds funny, but without backpressure, the piston rings will become unseated and not seal right. I have seen this problem many times as now the latest trend in my town is to hollow the cat, scrap the muffler and straight pipe the shit. sounds like shit and they are burning more oil now.

How much power can a stock ls crank handle?

like stated above, worry about the rods and pistons. the cranks are exceptionally strong and can handle 800 hp if balanced and all that junk. youll fuck up the block before the crank gives you problems.

To balance or not to balance

i know of a certain civic that will have less torque now. but ya, have it checked. if it is not balanced, your engine is not going to run smoothly, not to mention the clutch will not work as well. oh, by the way, pep boys cant turn your flywheel. I used to work there. they will either send it to...

    what size exhaust is best??

there are a lot of myths about exhaust system sizes that I hope to dispell. If the diameter is too big and there is not enough back pressure in the exhaust system, you will cause damage to the piston rings. the following is a list of suggested diameters for the given motor sizes: 1.6 liter...

    2000 civic si heating issue?

it could be the thermostat. evey now and then, you get a bad apple. I work at a parts counter and sometimes you get defective parts. anyhow, move the temp on the dash from hot to cold a couple of times to verify the operation of the valve. if you feel no temp change what so ever, you should...

    Need Help With Belts

take the old belts to the parts store with you. If nothing else, the belts can be measured and similar sized ones can be used. any parts store you go to should have a belt measuring tool to get the sizes of the ones you already have. keep in mind that they do streach a little over time. If you...

    2000 civic si heating issue?

this valve is located on the passenger side firewall more towards the bottom of the firemall. you will see coolant lines running to it, a sending hose and a return hose. but that other guy is right, replace the thermostat first. if the thermostat is somehow not closing, the coolant will...

    2000 civic si heating issue?

Is the car overheating? because it could just be the thermostat if that is the case. other than that, check the heater control valve located on the firewall on the passenger side. if this valve malfunctions, coolant will not pass through the heater core to produce heat. It is also possible that...

Rear disc brake conversion for 96-00 civic

Has anyone done a disc brake conversion from drums with the si brake componets on 96-00 civics? I know I need to get the rotors, calipers, caliper mounting brackets, hub/bearing assembley, and splash guards for each rotor. but do i need to change the hydraulic lines to make it compatible with...

    check engine light on

try replacing the gas cap. I work at autozone and evap/emissions codes are the most common. If the gas cap doesnt work, check the evap canister, the purge valve and solenoid. take the car to any autozone to get the light erased after fixing anything.

    Removing rusty bolts

for any rusty bolts that are hard to get loose, get this stuff called PB Blaster. It is a penetrant like liquid wrench, but it works a whole lot better. You can find it at autozone.
