try replacing the gas cap. I work at autozone and evap/emissions codes are the most common. If the gas cap doesnt work, check the evap canister, the purge valve and solenoid. take the car to any autozone to get the light erased after fixing anything.

for any rusty bolts that are hard to get loose, get this stuff called PB Blaster. It is a penetrant like liquid wrench, but it works a whole lot better. You can find it at autozone.
