Why did my valve burn again?

Except your two definitions are slang and have nothing at all to do with cars. As I originally posted, the motor lasted about 10K miles. I just wasn't careful about checking how well it was working right after reassembling it... which is too bad since it would remove some questions now.

Why did my valve burn again?

I guess I disagree that coke means cocaine when you're inside an engine or anything else that burns fuel. Though if my car was doing lines, I guess it would explain why the valve burned up... The reason I wish I did a wet test was that I seem to remember the number being slightly different...

Why did my valve burn again?

coke 1 (kk) n. The solid residue of impure carbon obtained from bituminous coal and other carbonaceous materials after removal of volatile material by destructive distillation. It is used as a fuel and in making steel. tr. & intr.v. coked, cok·ing, cokes ;) Compression was good after...

Why did my valve burn again?

What was inaccurate about my description? If it was the O2, why only ash in #1? If it fouled the plug from running that rich I should have ash on all the plugs, I would think? I know 28mpg isn't that great for a honda, but it wasn't exactly dumping gas either. I will call the...

Why did my valve burn again?

It's black ash, looks like burned marshmallow. What do you think they screwed up on the valve job?

Why did my valve burn again?

Hmm, I took the head to the closest place I could find, which also seemed pretty cheap ($175). I thought a valve job was a valve job unless you are going for performance By coke I mean there is just ash all around the white insulator, it looks like a moldy piece of bread.

Why did my valve burn again?

I pulled the plug. 0 compression (180 across the others), and the plug had coke spots around the white insulator while the others were clean. I guess all the oil was being burned in that cylinder and the deposits are what burned the valve. There is a new valve stem seal on it and there was no...

Why did my valve burn again?

I have a F22A, it had a burned #1 exhaust valve when I got it, I had a valve job done at a machine shop, put it back together with correct valve lash and drove 10,000 miles. I was driving on the highway yesterday and lost power, now #1 is dead again. I'm not so sure the valve job was the...

What to do with an oil burner

oops, manifold only: eBay Motors: F22A Turbo Manifold accord prelude t3 t4 stainless (item 180048029520 end time May-05-07 18:34:06 PDT) I guess the rest of the stuff would be pretty expensive. Now I'm pricing myself out of this project ;)

What to do with an oil burner

Ok, so I'm looking at about 800 for the motor, 250 for the turbo kit, 300 for a tunable ECU and harness, probably 100-150 for a set of used injectors and then labor for the tune? What if I replace the motor now and then do the turbo upgrade later, is everything easy to do with the motor in the...

What to do with an oil burner

But even with a JDM motor and turbo kit, I can use the same ECM, injectors, fuel pump, regulator as long as the ECM is correctly tuned? That would be great.

What to do with an oil burner

They want $175 to ship it. They sell it without the transmission for $100 less. I do have an iffy automatic, it works but slips/flares into 3rd if I mash the pedal. So why not pay the shipping once ya know? How does installing a turbo affect the reliability? Any faqs on a turbo upgrade...

What to do with an oil burner

Cool, I'll look for a JDM then since it looks like it will be easier to find than a NA (Not Available?) motor.

What to do with an oil burner

I'm in Tulsa OK. I see a lot of 86-89 accords and later models but so far I haven't found a single 90-93 accord. What other hondas came with F22A motors?

What to do with an oil burner

F22B uses the same mounts, tranny, ECU? F22A seems quite rare in the wreckers.

What to do with an oil burner

Its smoking when it downshifts so I think either the valve job was a dud or the bottom end is shot. If it is leaking, then it's only leaking when it is running because I have no drips on my garage floor. I put the heavier weight oil to see if it would slow down the oil burning, but it doesn't...

What to do with an oil burner

F22A4 in a 90 accord, burned a valve. Took it apart. No hard oil varnish on pistons, they cleaned right up. So I figured the bottom end is ok. Had a valve job for $175, put it back together. Now at 3500rpm (i.e. 80mph on the interstate) it uses 1 qt in 150 miles and smokes when downshifting...
