look at the distributor rotor and cap, mainly the rotor see if you see a small burn mark on the rotor were its sits on the distributor shaft. it may be grounding out and cooking your coil. ive only seen this happen a very few times. its worth a shot. do yourself a favor and buy a oem rotor.
if you got the distributor from a junkyard id check to see if the bearing is seized on the distributor shaft. the distributor rotor would be hard to turn at that point. id also see if there is a moisture or water inside the distributor cap. otherwise then that id look at the ignition coil swap...
can you shift the car while the car isnt running?
you might want to check the condition of the thow out bearing and fork.
broken or leaking hydrolics would cause the same deal except that the thow out bearing fork would not move or move all the way.
