I need to figure out what this swap will require and you guys are always so helpful... hoping this time will be the same! I have a 94 Del Sol S. The history... I bought a z6 head and did a mini-me swap, and shortly after found the piston rings were also bad. The car has sat in my garage for 8...
I assume you mean the z6 head/distributor?? I'm taking offers on the prices... shipping will probably be about $30... the head is pretty heavy.
Here's some info on the head that I just sent someone interested from another site:
" I have one SOHC VTEC head for sale... it's off of a D16Z6...
Hello,
I have several honda Civic/Del Sol/CRX parts that I am looking to get rid of. Please let me know if you are interested in puchasing any of them! I'm in the Cleveland area, but I have no problems shipping. I am an eBay powerseller with over 250 positive feedback, see my feedback under...
Hi everyone,
I originally did a mini-me swap on my del sol, but the piston rings snapped. Now I'm dropping in a new engine. I found a low milage d16y7 for sale at a great price locally. I've read that using the d15b7 intake manifold, tb, injectors, etc will allow the swap to be completed...
I had an extra coolant hose somehow, so two hoses pumping coolant were connected using a splitter to one hole... I forgot which now. I've never heard of that before... so I'm guessing there were hoses mixed up somewhere and most likely one was forgotten.
Another thing we found when taking the...
Hi everyone,
My friends and I tried to do a mini-me swap on my d15b7 Del Sol a month ago. I haven't had time to mess with it so it's just been sitting there until summer break, and now that's here. There are several problems...
1. Surging idle, 2500 to 500 over and over
2. A LOT of white smoke...
Yep, I was sure to remove the oil jet. I do have an extra head gasket for the D16z6 I will try as soon as I can; I thought it was the head gasket, too. I don't see what else it could be, but I don't really know much about engine problems.
The d16z6 head does fit on the d15b7 block, doesn't it?
Oh, I was told that the mini-me was if you're going from any other d16 to a d16z6, and since I'm putting a d16 on a d15 it was called a frankenstein... didn't think that was right.
I'm not running the car, thought we fixed it yesterday and took it for a ride to see and it was obviously not...
My friends and I tried to do a head swap over spring break... a d16z6 ported & polished head onto a d15b7 block. The car runs great, with the exception of it revs itself from 1500 to 1000 in idle, non-stop. I don't have the new computer yet, so that is what I've been told is the problem. Sound...
First of all, I know next to nothing about this, a friend is doing almost all of the work.
I gathered all the parts and we jumped into this project today. I have been reading this as though I had a d16a6 where really I only have the d15b7 1.5l and am swaping a d16z6 head. Now I'm hearing...
I took my car to find why there is low compression in the 2nd cylinder. (actaully almost no compression). I watched the mechanic take off the valve cover and test everything... the springs look great, piston seems fine, etc. He said it isn't the head gasket since I only have smoke comming out...
I don't have a set figure in mind yet... right now I'm just looking to see if anyone is interested and then go over details. Right now it looks like the repair is going to be very minor afterall
We have emissions tests... we shouldn't... but we do.
Well, to make a long story short, somehow my friend and I fixed my car and it now has 30% more power than it ever did. We also found the repair was going to be under $150. I can't wait to see what the power will be like after the last cylinder is firing! There's no way I can justify selling...
