Just keep the motor you have in there. No sense in replacing it with another ls. Get a fresh bore get some new pistons and rods and turbo the hell out of it. Or if your feeling adventurous build an ls/vtec and boost the hell out of that .
well you could just get a big enough turbo that you could stay out of boost while daily driving around and still have some pull up top since you can rev it out a bit more with the head work. I personally think the sc61 or the smaller sc34 would be a good choice. The 34 is similar to the t3t4...
What are your goals? HP? daily drivablity? what are your mechanical skills like? The cheapest way is to just buy a stock vtec head and bolt it on with the stock block and conversion kit. But that might not meet your goals so you need to be more specific.
