Bringing a del sol back to life

Ok, but the car harness is obd2 and the engine / ecu is obd1. I don't actually have the ecu for this engine either so I have to find one. I suspect i'll need some kind of adapter as well.

Bringing a del sol back to life

Hi! I picked up a 96 del sol shell and am bringing it back to life. Needs some front-end repair (nearly done), engine, tranny and axles. Unfortunately, i'm on a budget so a b-series isn't an option. The car had a b-series dohc with vtec (b16 most likely). I already had a D16 with vtec...

    1990 CRX Si Build thread

coolant leak... mine leaks coolant too. Stop Leak is working so far, but it's gonna start up again as it gets worse. At first glance it seemed to leak from the water pump. But, it's actually coming from the hose out of the water pump (underneath the intake manifold). I've got an engine...

    1990 CRX Si Build thread

I used a 6' breaker bar. Might be trickier with the engine still in the car. It's just the one bolt holding the crank pulley on. Makes a terrible noise like your breaking something when it comes loose. WD-40 or similar can help some, but mostly you need leverage. Sometimes an impact wrench...

    1990 CRX Si Build thread

Might want to set the crank and cam to TDC (top dead center) before pulling the timing belt off. I suppose it doesn't matter as long as they don't get moved at all before the new timing belt goes on. You did get a new timing belt and water pump right?

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

D15 vs. D16 I don't think there is much difference between D15 and D16 block as far as performance. Though, my perception may be skewed as my D16 wasn't actually running at peak performance prior to this swap (see above photos). But, i've driven a stock D15 with the DPFI and DX tranny and...

    1990 CRX Si Build thread

intake manifold bolt... I know which bolt you speak of. It's a bitch. I used a u-joint socket extension and some swearing to get it off. Put it on with the engine out of the car which was way easier. I can't think of any reason you wouldn't be able to just remove the head with the intake...

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

It Runs! There was a little grounding wire back behind everything in a difficult to reach spot. Connected and fired right up. :D The computer has been flashing some interesting codes and the check engine light is on. First was the MAP sensor. Disconnect, Reconnect, Reset and it went away...

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

Good suggestion on the cam. Shouldn't be too big a deal to swap that in, but i'd like to get it running first. It does crank and sounds fine, but doesn't get fuel. Relay is the next thing to check isn't it? But, I R tired and will do it after work tomorrow... Just odd that the relay would...

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

Yeah, I read in a forum somewhere that people swapping their D15 to MPFI had to use a distributor from an Si. So, I used the distributor, MPFI intake, tranny and everything I could from the Si. I did keep the head on the D15 as it didn't make sense to swap them (though, the D16 has a hotter...

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

Thanks for the feedback, but the ECU is a PM6-A09. It's also not cycling a code, just blinks continuously. Someone told me they do that when you plug a diagnostic reader into them, but I don't have one of those. This car isn't worthy of a well-built D16. The D15 is going in because it was...

    91 Civic Si D16 to D15 swap?

Ok, why on earth would I swap a superior D16A6 motor with an inferior D15B? Because the D16 blew a ring. :( So, I did the swap using the Si tranny, mpfi, harness and ecu. Everything bolted up perfectly and looks good. But, when we go to start the car I get a blinking check engine light...
