    Depending on which b16 swap you purchase (obd1/obd2), its easy. If you DO buy an obd2 swap, converting it to obd1 is pretty easy also. obd1 swaps can be cheaper also.

    You need a puller to remove the uppers, the lowers on the tie rod ends come off easily, just remove the cotter pin, loosen the bolt, bang on the lower part of the ball joint with a heavy hammer, then one or two taps on the stud and it should come right out.

    Sounds like the valves pinging... if the timing is correct, and u have sufficient oil in the car, then just try running a full tank of super (92-93 octane) fuel and some injector treatment. If the problem persists, than more than likely it is the valve lash. Doesn't sound like a rod knock or...

    White smoke pouring out of the exhaust at idle is also a good sign of bad piston rings... Im sure your headgasket is toast as well... just pull the oil dipstick out and see if the oil on it looks like milkshake... if it does, than coolant is mixing with the oil.

    So they hacked the distributor to save a few bucks... I hate that. Get the proper distributor and run the stock obd1 p72 ecu and your problems will be solved im sure.

    12's @ 119mph could be due to no traction. That might be what it did on street tires. 119 mph is in the 11 sec range on full slick with a half decent 60'... but u have to remember, your buying someone elses headaches... I would pass and build my own...

    so your running an obd1 chipped ecu (p28) on an obd2 gsr motor... what shell is it in? obd1 distributor? stock engine harness? the p72 should rev to 8200 easily, why it isnt is beyond me.
