Do you need ANY engine bay re-shaping to drop the B16A in or does it bolt right-in with the right after-market mounts?
I think I heard you need one slight hammering or two to put a B18x in.
When I had the stock 3.888 gears in my ZC transmission, I could make 143mph in 5th gear at 7200rpm.

That was not on jack-stands and here is proof:

Now I have the 4.25 gears in...
With a ZC tranny (and a 4.25 Si final drive in it) you are at 3000-3250rpm in 5th gear cruising at 55mph. With the 'normal' ZC tranny, that is 2750rpm given you are running the stock tire size in both cases.
4000rpm in 5th gear is 80mph with the normal ZC tranny. 4.25 final drive will set you...
Is wiring a problem at all if I am getting the motor, tranny, axles, ECU and ALL out of one single car thrashed?
I mean it is going to come already wired?
Sorry for my ignorance guys. There is a lot I hafta learn.
Thank you for your replies!
I know. LS gears are longer.
I don't think I would boost it, at least before dropping it in. I think the torque of LS motor would cut me for a while before I need even more power than the LS.
You're right. B16A2 would suck with LS gears. I might even be dropping...
I wish it was available, man. :(
Another questions, though; could I swap all the internal parts of a hydraulic-clutched B16A2 tranny (whatever its code is) into a cable LS tranny case, or do I sound too stupid for asking such a question? Just an idea... ;)
Hi all!
I am the proud owner of a 1991 CRX with its original ZC motor. D16A9 to be exact. I am looking for more power. Actually I want something more torquey. That is why rather than spending money on bolt-ons which will give me only small gains, I thought I'd save it up and do a complete swap...
ZC has a longer final drive but CLOSER ratios than the Si tranny. I put in the 4.25 Si final drive in my ZC tranny, well, actually had someone do it for me and I love it.
If you're going to drag your car, ZC transmission alone would not be the best setup because the 1st gear ratios are the same...
