Even though the B18B can hold more boost the B18C1 is a better stock engine than the B18B and if tuned and boosted correctly it should outperform the B18B. However the higher compression engines like the B18C1 are harder to tune and if you screw that up and boost it then it won't last long...

Bad head, bad driver, bad tranny, bad tires, bad suspension, bad gas, overconfident, under achiever, VTEC not working properly, needs to be tuned, gremlins, heavier car, etc. There are too many things to consider why you beat a stock B18C1. Based on the performance charts those two engines...

the new m3 is slow :(

The car I remember the most is the RX7. That was a great car. Plus most people are not born knowing how to work on car engines they have to learn. Same thing with the rotary engine, so there shouldn't be an excuse. Other

From what I read the LS tranny isn't one that is recommended. Most people say to go with a GSR or b16a tranny. I have also gotten conflicting reports and some say that the b16a is better on the 1/4mile while the LS is more fun 0-60. GSR being the best option if you are a no holds bar spend...

the new m3 is slow :(

And the M3 spun it's wheels for quite a while on start. We need better stats and a better driver. Other

    Take a look at the specs of the engines you are considering: B16A SiR II 1595 170@7600 116@7000 10.4:1 B18B1 1834 142@6300 127@5200 9.2:1 B18C1 1797 170@7600 128@6200 10.0:1 While the C1 has 30 more HP it only has 1 more Torque. The B1 peaks 1000 rpms...

BTW. Here is a great article about forced induction. Makes it easier to understand what motors you might want to get based on the compression charts under the reference materials. https://hondaswap.com/turbo-information/static-vs-effective-compression-29102/ Other

We are NOT talking stock internals. We are talking cam and piston upgrades and possibly other upgrades (which I would do on a swap anyways before I installed the engine then you can still drive while working on a second engine). I still wonder how much Whp you can get after internal upgrades...

Someone quoted 400+ on a D series after cam and piston upgrades.

But the question still stands. Can you pull more than 250 Whp reliably on a D16 if you upgraded cam, pistons, and other engine components? If so the D16 might be significantly cheaper than a B16 swap. Other

How much power can you get out of a boosted D16Z6 and still be a DD (reliability is key)? What all will it take? Is a block swap or head swap required to get the most out of it (I keep on seeing swap this or that, gets confusing)? Can you get away with pistons, cam, porting, balancing...

Great thread, I was actually thinking the same as honda_boy911. I have about 6k and no car yet, but I have a hold on this 93 Civic EX with over 200k miles for 3k. Those have the D16Z6 engine in it. Because of the miles and not knowing if it was rebuilt I was thinking about just swapping with...
