I know i am a little late but here we go. It sounds like you have two problems 1.the ground between the motor and the frame is more likely failing causing resistance so upgrade your ground wire's to two 4gauge from motor to frame. 2. your battery it might be to small if that so that will kill...

2.for the b16 tranny it has short gears not long perfect for LsVtec
